Leif:

When she offered it. Just take it.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

99% of the population can't afford to send their

Leif:

kids to Yale.

Steve:

Yeah. And your girlfriend is

Steve:

like, here is the money for it. It's

Steve:

like. It's basically like if you bought a

Steve:

sandwich.

Leif:

Hey up, reciters and all you scandal loving listeners out

Leif:

there, you just tuned into the non judging breakfast pod

Leif:

where the coffee is strong, the waffles are fresh,

Leif:

and the gossip is hotter than ever. My name is Leif

Leif:

and I'm your seasoned Gossip Girl veteran.

Steve:

And I'm Steve, your newbie, the

Steve:

greenhorn, the, What are we calling me these days, Leif?

Leif:

I'm not sure, but I do know that the Lord can't enter a

Leif:

body sullied by alcohol.

Steve:

Well, that's pretty good because I like to be the one doing the

Steve:

entering.

Leif:

All right.

Steve:

He's so disgusting.

Steve:

So here's the deal, folks. Leaf has been watching Gossip

Steve:

Girl since it first aired, and I'm tuning in for the first

Steve:

time. And together, we are your dynamic duo,

Steve:

bringing you all the drama, romance, and

Steve:

sometimes questionable fashion choices of

Steve:

this iconic 2007 series.

Leif:

That's right. Each week we'll be taking a deep dive into the show

Leif:

one episode at a time. We'll analyze all the hidden

Leif:

parallels, obscure references, and we're also going

Leif:

to take a look at the behind the scenes gossip and some stories

Leif:

from fandom along the way.

Steve:

And M, since we are all about inclusivity here at the non

Steve:

judging breakfast pod, there is always room for you at the

Steve:

non judging breakfast table. So grab a

Steve:

mimosa, some coffee, or maybe

Steve:

some of Nate and Chuck's special medicine. And let's go ahead and get

Steve:

started.

Leif:

And this episode will be releasing on February

Leif:

3rd, but the week we are recording is right

Leif:

after all the LA fires broke out. a

Leif:

lot of. A lot of homes destroyed. Hooting. Leighton Meester,

Leif:

Adam Brody.

Steve:

Yeah, and I was actually thinking of this on the way up

Steve:

of. You know, our. Our hearts definitely go out

Steve:

to all of you in LA going through this.

Steve:

I. Robin's close friend lives

Steve:

out there. She's trying to get him to leave the city

Steve:

because he's. He keeps saying, oh, it's not.

Steve:

I'm safe in my house, but you can't go outside.

Steve:

It's just smoke everywhere.

Steve:

So be safe out in LA if

Steve:

anyone is listening to us out there.

Leif:

but also this week, Leighton's trailer for

Leif:

her new show on the CW came out.

Steve:

No kidding.

Leif:

Yes. She is doing a show called Good Cop,

Leif:

Bad Cop. Premieres in February.

Steve:

Okay.

Leif:

It Appears she's part of a family of cops. her

Leif:

father is played by Clancy Brown.

Steve:

Okay.

Leif:

Adam Brody is going to have a cameo in at least one episode.

Steve:

Oh, all right. Personally, I'm so over

Steve:

cop shows. Like, they're.

Leif:

I was over them always. yeah.

Steve:

I mean, I was a. I was a huge Law and

Steve:

Order fan at one point, and there were a few

Steve:

other times. A few other shows along the way,

Steve:

but for the most part, like you said, I'm.

Steve:

I'm not a huge.

Leif:

It doesn't appear from the trailer. This is a

Leif:

procedural, per se. It's more of a comedy.

Steve:

Okay.

Leif:

It's like a family comedy. Type that. It's a sitcom.

Steve:

Okay. I mean, I'm probably going to give it a chance

Steve:

because I love her. I liked her

Steve:

in How I met your father, which was also

Steve:

not a great show. I don't need a show to be

Steve:

great to watch it. Leaf will tell you that I enjoy a

Steve:

lot of really, really terrible stuff. I'm

Steve:

typically the guy in our friend group who

Steve:

likes everything except the Lord of the Rings,

Steve:

which baffles everybody.

Leif:

But we are here to talk about Gossip Girl. Today

Leif:

we're going into season two, episode

Leif:

23, the Wrath of Khan.

Steve:

I loved the title here. I

Steve:

got a good chuckle of it at the end of last episode.

Steve:

Great reference to Star Trek.

Steve:

I really wanted them at some point to,

Steve:

You were conned, Con.

Leif:

The original air date for this episode was May

Leif:

4th, 2009. May the fourth be with

Leif:

you.

Steve:

May the fourth be with YOU. Interesting to have a Star

Steve:

Trek reference on. May 4.

Leif:

Episode was written by Sarah Goodman.

Leif:

This is her first episode of Gossip Girl and only

Leif:

her third writing job. However, she does go on to be a

Leif:

mainstay in the writer's room all the way through the show's final

Leif:

season. And most recently, she is

Leif:

the showrunner for, the Cruel Intentions remake.

Steve:

I didn't realize there was a Cruel Intentions remake. Have

Steve:

you seen it?

Leif:

I've watched a couple episodes. It's not horrible,

Leif:

but the actors just aren't. Sarah

Leif:

Michelle Geller and Ryan Phillipe.

Steve:

Yeah, it's just. Yeah, that movie

Steve:

is. It's a perfect movie. Yeah, it's.

Steve:

There aren't many movies I will actually call perfect, but I feel

Steve:

like that one throws through and through is a, perfect

Steve:

movie. Also, the. The writing on

Steve:

this episode. It's obvious why she got a,

Steve:

nod to stay in the room. The writing in this

Steve:

episode is damn near impeccable.

Leif:

Yeah. The episode was directed by

Leif:

Janice Cook, who previously directed

Leif:

episode 116, All About My Brother.

Leif:

And then episodes three and 16 in season

Leif:

two, The Dark Knight. And you've got Yale, so it's

Leif:

interesting.

Steve:

She did the other Georgina episode. Right.

Steve:

Wasn't all about my brother. Was when.

Leif:

Yeah, that's when Eric came out. Right?

Steve:

She outed Eric. Yeah. And

Steve:

so another Georgina episode. again,

Steve:

this episode, I felt was well

Steve:

directed and really well written. Yeah.

Leif:

Why don't you, go ahead and give us that vulture recap?

Steve:

Sure thing. In your face, all you

Steve:

parent groups who decried Gossip Girl as a

Steve:

sensationalist, immoral piece of trash.

Steve:

This episode, the second to last one before the

Steve:

season finale, reminded us that this

Steve:

show is not merely a sensationalist, immoral

Steve:

piece of trash. It's a tool for learning.

Steve:

For instance, this episode introduced its

Steve:

audience to the new vocabulary word

Steve:

fochelite. It's a word we like

Steve:

almost as much as mokalite, which

Steve:

we coined and we suspect Gabriel

Steve:

is. Plus, the kids at home were schooled

Steve:

about issues in the news. Ponzi

Steve:

scheme. Very brief

Steve:

recap this week.

Leif:

Yes. short and sweet and. Yeah. Just tried to Google

Leif:

mochalite, and I still don't know what it means.

Steve:

Or moshalite.

Leif:

Yeah. Yeah. Motionlight's probably better.

Steve:

Yeah, it's probably motionlight.

Leif:

There's link to stream moshalite music

Leif:

such as motionlight. There's a

Leif:

moshaverse.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Who knows?

Steve:

Yeah. Oh, a male socialite,

Steve:

maybe.

Leif:

Can men not be socialites?

Steve:

I don't know.

Steve:

We're out of my league here.

Steve:

Can men be socialites? Or is it because, I mean, they

Steve:

don't go out at the debutante ball? You

Steve:

know, that's for the women.

Steve:

They just escort. Right.

Leif:

Yeah. We go into the

Leif:

episode. We begin act one with a

Leif:

monologue.

Leif:

Four wise men once said. I get by with a

Leif:

little help from my friends. But on the Upper east side,

Leif:

there's an added challenge of finding out who those friends really

Leif:

are.

Steve:

Yeah. Love the Beatles reference.

Leif:

Doesn't know. It makes sense, though.

Steve:

Not at all. But I love that they made it. Yes.

Leif:

We begin almost right where we left off last

Leif:

week. Chuck is riding a cab back to the city.

Leif:

He calls Serena, who apologizes that she didn't

Leif:

believe him sooner. Georgina, is still with Chuck and

Leif:

still playing up the Jesus card.

Steve:

I don't believe there's been any other

Steve:

episode that picks up

Steve:

immediately following the previous

Steve:

episode like this.

Leif:

I think the previous Georgina,

Leif:

run, where after Serena says, you know, I killed someone,

Leif:

it kind of picks up.

Steve:

You're right. You're Right. It picks up right there with

Steve:

her and Blair talking about it.

Leif:

But going back to the good writing, directing, and

Leif:

also, I guess, costume design, they're all wearing the same

Leif:

clothes and you could tell some of them are a little bit wrinkly

Leif:

looking.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

So, yeah, good work by the prop department there.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

It was.

Steve:

All in all, it was seamless.

Steve:

This was essentially a two part episode

Steve:

without the to be continued. It

Steve:

really. I was kind of excited

Steve:

to be immersed right back into

Steve:

the next moment when usually it's a couple

Steve:

days.

Leif:

Serena enters her apartment with the intention of telling

Leif:

Lily about Gabriel skipping town. But

Leif:

Lily sidetracks her with a lavish gift. Because

Leif:

Lily is suddenly so proud of Serena, Serena doesn't

Leif:

reveal the sauce. She instead calls Blair.

Leif:

I smell a scheme brewing.

Steve:

I smell, a. I'll take care of this. By

Steve:

one of the kids. Again. Don't worry, I'll handle

Steve:

it. By one of the kids.

Leif:

But again, also, you know, back to the

Leif:

writing. This is not the first time in this

Leif:

episode they set something up that pays off later on with the

Leif:

bracelet.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

Nate and Blair are still arguing about the apartment, but

Leif:

Blair needs to go help Serena now. In the end,

Leif:

Nate decides to tag along this time.

Steve:

And I was glad he did

Steve:

because I, love that this

Steve:

episode is another non judging Breakfast Club

Steve:

episode.

Leif:

Everyone's stories are intertwined.

Steve:

Yes.

Leif:

The entire cast except for Vanessa, who's not in the episode.

Leif:

Okay.

Steve:

Yeah, that's fine.

Leif:

I also thought this was an interesting parallel

Leif:

to previous scenes with Dan and Serena

Leif:

where Dan is always understanding what Serena needs to

Leif:

drop. Dropped everything to go help Blair, but Nate

Leif:

was a little more not understanding.

Steve:

Yeah, that is true. Although Nate

Steve:

also. I was surprised in the previous

Steve:

episode that Nate didn't do anything to help

Steve:

Serena. That Nate was very

Steve:

much, very selfish in the moment. I want

Steve:

to do this thing with you, Blair. And now

Steve:

that that has kind of, to a

Steve:

degree blown over. They still have more to talk

Steve:

about, but Nate being like, well, I'm

Steve:

going with you. I was actually glad that it's

Steve:

like, good. You need to be involved with.

Leif:

No, it's good that he went with her. But the initial reaction of

Leif:

not wanting her to go to help Serena. Yeah,

Leif:

I'm not saying it's necessarily bad, but it's just, an interesting

Leif:

parallel with the Dan and Serena scenes previously.

Steve:

You're right. Especially with the relationship

Steve:

that Blair and Serena have. The drop everything. No matter

Steve:

how much we hate each other, we drop everything

Steve:

for each other. So you're. You're right.

Leif:

Dan Gets that. But Nate is still

Leif:

getting there, I guess.

Steve:

yeah. Although Dan ran got

Steve:

tired of it too though by the end of that

Steve:

relationship. The whole. Especially one year

Steve:

ago from now when Serena wasn't telling

Steve:

him what was going on.

Leif:

But that wasn't to go help Blair. That was just to go

Leif:

party with Georgina or whatever she was doing.

Steve:

Well and. And covering up the murder she didn't commit.

Leif:

Yes. The

Leif:

Humphreys are walking down the street. Rufus is

Leif:

still on cloud nine. He announces that he is going to propose

Leif:

to Lily. After getting Eric's permission, Dan

Leif:

cuts out to try to convince Serena to come to

Leif:

brunch.

Steve:

First of all, Rufus is too happy. Zip ity doo

Steve:

dah. Also,

Steve:

I feel like his acting.

Leif:

I always forget his name. Matthew Settle.

Steve:

Matthew Settle. I always feel like his acting

Steve:

kind of is. He's better at some things than

Steve:

others and he's not very good at happy. But I

Steve:

feel like whenever he's happy someone was like, act

Steve:

happy. And that's what we get.

Leif:

Nate and Blair arrive at Serena's place. Serena

Leif:

admits that she messed up with Gabriel. But Blair and Nate

Leif:

agree to help.

Steve:

I loved. I loved Blair here and this wasn't. It's

Steve:

not something I wanted to be right about. And

Steve:

then instantly I'm here for my friend.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Don't tell me he gave you scabies.

Leif:

if only. If only.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Also arriving is Chuck and

Leif:

Georgina who says she just wants to apologize to

Leif:

Blair.

Steve:

I really like Georgina here.

Steve:

Really like her in this entire

Steve:

episode.

Leif:

I told you. They lean into her style

Leif:

going forward.

Steve:

They really do. It is a

Steve:

180 from last year where I

Steve:

couldn't stand Michelle

Steve:

Trachtenberg. Yeah, it wasn't even Georgina. It was.

Steve:

I couldn't stand Michelle Trachtenberg. And this

Steve:

year Michelle Trachtenberg has been

Steve:

awesome.

Leif:

So originally Josh Schwartz wanted

Leif:

Misha Barton for the part, but she turned him

Leif:

down. I, think she would have worked better for the original version of

Leif:

Georgina.

Steve:

You think so?

Leif:

She has that charisma.

Steve:

She does.

Leif:

She draws people in. She's not a great actress, but she

Leif:

draws people in.

Steve:

I guess my concern with her is that

Steve:

I find her to be a little flat.

Leif:

Yeah, she's definitely flat, but she can. But she still is

Leif:

able to draw people in solely based on

Leif:

her looks.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

The non judging Breakfast Club is now gathered

Leif:

in Serena's room. Serena is leaving a

Leif:

voicemail for Gabriel stating that she is pregnant.

Steve:

She's so fucking stupid. The whole

Steve:

like. But I know there had to be something real there

Steve:

between beneath. It did There.

Leif:

Serena, she was.

Steve:

Right.

Leif:

So.

Steve:

But although was she. I don't know if

Steve:

he would. I still don't believe he was telling the truth.

Leif:

I think he was. Because if, like you

Leif:

said, if. If he didn't have feelings, he would have just left

Leif:

like he was supposed to. He should have been arrested

Leif:

here.

Steve:

Well, he should have been arrested here, but

Steve:

they're stupid. Like, they're so

Steve:

fucking dumb about how they handle it.

Steve:

Because. Because even if he's not

Steve:

the main culprit, even if it is all

Steve:

Poppy putting this scheme together,

Steve:

he's still doing it. He is

Steve:

still involved in this Ponzi scheme that is still

Steve:

illegal and still involved with not having your

Steve:

money.

Leif:

Well, like you said, he was. You know, she was

Leif:

originally a mark, but I think he did sort of

Leif:

fall for her, because everyone falls for Serena Vander

Leif:

Woodsen. Dan arrives

Leif:

and finds out that the investment is fake. Serena begs him not

Leif:

to tell Rufus so that she can handle it.

Steve:

Yeah, kids are gonna handle it because your mom gave

Steve:

you a bracelet. Not that your mom's gonna handle it any

Steve:

better.

Leif:

Well, she's gonna make it go away.

Steve:

She'll make it go away, but we'll get to

Steve:

that. Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

Just when it seems that things can't get any worse,

Leif:

Georgina barges in and everyone starts yelling at each

Leif:

other. However, they are saved by the bell as

Leif:

Gabriel does.

Steve:

Call back her entrance. It's going

Steve:

to take an act of God. And she just walks

Steve:

in and it pauses and you have that

Steve:

moment of like, oh, they all look at her and then they scream

Steve:

at each other and they're all fighting and

Steve:

they. You brought her here. And oh, my God,

Steve:

I love,

Leif:

So good.

Steve:

I loved it.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

Again, that's writing and directing.

Steve:

There's not even much that the actors needed

Steve:

to do because there was just such

Steve:

great timing in that scene.

Leif:

And that is the end of Act 1. We move

Leif:

into Act 2. Serena is

Leif:

meeting with Gabriel and she calls him out on his

Leif:

scheme. Chuck enters, backed by security guards,

Leif:

and threatens to call the feds. Gabriel claims

Leif:

that Poppy has the money.

Steve:

Serena wants to be loved

Steve:

for who she is so

Steve:

badly that she will accept

Steve:

anyone telling her that. They do.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

And that's where I didn't necessarily

Steve:

think that Gabriel was telling the truth. I think that

Steve:

he heard, oh, she's pregnant. Oh, shit, this

Steve:

is going to come back on me. I better do something

Steve:

about it was my impression of him. I also don't

Steve:

think Armie Hammer was. Is a fantastic

Steve:

actor either. I think he's quite terrible at

Steve:

conveying Anything. I believe that you

Steve:

need to have human emotion, not eat human

Steve:

emotion in order to. In order

Steve:

to act. And I think he just lacks

Steve:

it. So I think that. That. That there.

Steve:

That lends a lot to the discrepancy

Steve:

between our view of what happened there,

Steve:

because I don't think that he conveys

Steve:

anything very well.

Leif:

True. Except smarmy

Leif:

asshole Dan finds Lily and spills

Leif:

the tea. Lily says he did the right thing and

Leif:

that she will take care of the situation quickly and

Leif:

quietly.

Steve:

Y'all should know Dan can never keep his mouth shut.

Steve:

Never.

Leif:

Yeah, And I like how they're fighting new

Leif:

and creative ways to hide the baby bump.

Leif:

Yeah, she's wearing, like, a jacket,

Leif:

a wrap, and she's got a Birkin bag.

Steve:

In front of her. It's really funny, because I actually

Steve:

thought that maybe she already had the baby

Steve:

from one of the other scenes where it looked like she

Steve:

had, like, they were still covering, but she had

Steve:

less because, you know, sometimes you still carry that, that.

Steve:

That. Wait a little while, but yeah, like.

Leif:

She'S wearing a jacket inside the whole episode.

Steve:

Yeah, she is indeed.

Leif:

Back at the restaurant, Gabriel is explaining to Serena and

Leif:

Chuck that his Ponzi scheme with Poppy. And Gabriel

Leif:

reiterates that in the end, Papi

Leif:

took the money and screwed him over as well.

Steve:

Yeah. This is where we get the Focalite ball

Steve:

line. I swear, you were just a mark at

Steve:

the beginning, but I fell in love with you.

Steve:

It's so lame. If he did fall in love with her, it's

Steve:

just as lame as if.

Leif:

The reason why. Yeah, because if he didn't fall in

Leif:

love, there's zero reason for him to show up here

Leif:

and zero reason to.

Steve:

Explain everything unless it's all a lie.

Steve:

And Poppy was like, well, here's how you have to handle this new

Steve:

thing, because, my. And my. Because

Steve:

the last time we saw the two of them

Steve:

together, they pop. I'm, Poppy and

Steve:

Gabriel, they were super happy, but they

Steve:

were like, oh, she's on her way here. We better clear out of

Steve:

here. And then Poppy came back. It all felt

Steve:

very planned and rehearsed to me.

Leif:

Well, yes. And then, like, put it away like she was

Leif:

gonna buy him out, but she took all the money out of the account and

Leif:

just didn't show up.

Steve:

But they were very romantically.

Steve:

They acted romantically involved when they

Steve:

were by themselves.

Leif:

Yeah. I think he's just a him, though.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

And I. And I. Yeah, Largely that

Steve:

the way that he and Poppy were

Steve:

when they found out Serena was coming

Steve:

back, that's what told me it's all a lie

Steve:

again.

Leif:

I get different, different writers for each episode. So, yeah,

Leif:

in this episode, it was. It was written as if

Leif:

that he did have feelings for her.

Steve:

I didn't get that.

Leif:

Nate and Blair are still bickering outside the hotel

Leif:

with Georgina, begging for Blair's forgiveness.

Leif:

Gabriel, Chuck and Serena exit. Gabriel still wants

Leif:

to pursue a relationship with Serena, but she says

Leif:

he's gotta go.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah, I don't really have

Steve:

anything for that.

Leif:

The non judging Breakfast Club drafted an

Leif:

unwilling Georgina into the war against Poppy.

Leif:

It sounds like they have a plan. Gossip Girl has this

Leif:

to say. It looks like

Leif:

Georgina is losing her religion, whereas Bee met

Leif:

her match in the battle for G's soul.

Steve:

When Georgina says to Blair, everyone's

Steve:

forgiven me except for you. That's not how

Steve:

forgiveness works, Georgina. You can't

Steve:

just. Everyone else is doing it. I'm just waiting on

Steve:

you to forgive me.

Leif:

And has everyone really forgiven her?

Steve:

I don't believe anybody has.

Steve:

The other thing I had here was when they let

Steve:

Gabriel go and Serena's like, oh, he won't be

Steve:

hard to find. The guy that just took all of your

Steve:

money and can disappear at any second won't be hard to

Steve:

find if he is lying right here, Serena.

Steve:

He can just go right to the airport and be

Steve:

gone.

Leif:

Yes. Chuck's PIs are, able to find people anywhere.

Steve:

Yeah, I guess so.

Leif:

Lily is going over the list of investors with Bruce

Leif:

Kaplan. When Serena arrives at home, Lily pulls

Leif:

Serena aside and absolutely eviscerates Ah, her with

Leif:

words. Lily tells Serena to just stay out of

Leif:

it because mother knows best. After Serena leaves,

Leif:

she tells Bruce that they are going to do something a

Leif:

little different with Rufus's payout.

Steve:

Yeah. Lily once again being concerned about

Steve:

appearances and how it's going to

Steve:

look on her and Serena.

Leif:

Speaking of Rufus, he is walking down the street with

Leif:

Eric, who is underwhelmed by Rufus proposal

Leif:

ideas. However, ultimately Eric is happy

Leif:

and welcomes Rufus to the family.

Steve:

Yeah. Again, Eric being

Steve:

the most pragmatic and adult person

Steve:

here, is basically

Steve:

saying, are you sure my

Steve:

mom is the one you want to marry?

Leif:

Also, another good setup for later in the episode when

Leif:

Rufus says Lily is nothing like Cece, and Eric just kind

Leif:

of gives him a look like, sure about that?

Steve:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Steve:

And it's so true.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

And I love how Eric knows this.

Steve:

Eric knows his mom, Eric knows his grandmom,

Steve:

and Eric is the most grounded

Steve:

Upper east sider on the show.

Steve:

And so for him to have that reaction. I really.

Steve:

I love Eric.

Leif:

Meanwhile, Blair is using Georgina's desire for

Leif:

forgiveness to push her into helping with the scheme to take down

Leif:

Poppy. However, just as Blair is able to convince

Leif:

G. S calls B to call off the plan.

Steve:

two things. The first is that the list of things that

Steve:

Blair says that

Steve:

Georgina did that she needs forgiveness for, she didn't

Steve:

do to Blair. She did to Serena.

Leif:

Well, she didn't really. I mean, at least on the show, she has

Leif:

not really done anything directly to Blair. So why is she even asking for Blair's

Leif:

fort given.

Steve:

Exactly. Other than to me

Steve:

it's the history of them that she

Steve:

needs forgiveness for. So the fact that

Steve:

Blair. I kind of wished they

Steve:

would have made stuff up that wasn't in the

Steve:

show that she did to Blair to get

Steve:

forgiveness like they did when Georgina

Steve:

got sent to her parents.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

In the. In the previous time. The other

Steve:

thing about this, the if you

Steve:

cut revenge out of the Bible, it's really just

Steve:

a pamphlet.

Leif:

How did you know my favorite passage?

Steve:

And you shall know my name is the

Steve:

Lord when I lay my vengeance

Steve:

upon thee.

Leif:

I think, Flair watches Pulp Fiction a lot.

Steve:

that's exactly what I was thinking.

Leif:

Serena is disgusted when she comes out of her room to find

Leif:

Lily having polite tea with Poppy. Lily

Leif:

reiterates the best thing to do is let her and it

Leif:

go. Who gives a fuck about the next guy. Am I right?

Steve:

Yeah. Lily sucks in this episode.

Steve:

Lily. It's funny because I often

Steve:

root for Lily. I usually like

Steve:

Lily a lot in a lot of what she does.

Steve:

And yet this episode

Steve:

made her a complete villain while

Steve:

sticking 100% true to character,

Steve:

which I thought was really, really well

Steve:

done. Showing the really negative

Steve:

side of this person who is

Steve:

a. Is usually a very good cast

Steve:

member. One of the better people and one of

Steve:

the often a better voice of reason sometimes

Steve:

for a lot of things. And for her to really suck for

Steve:

a whole episode really made for good tv.

Leif:

Yeah. We'll get more to it in the stock watch.

Leif:

But even though this is a great episode,

Leif:

not a lot of people are going up.

Steve:

No. No. Yeah. Why did that had the same

Steve:

thing. Yeah. Really to

Steve:

go up in this one, you had to be on screen for like five

Steve:

seconds or less.

Leif:

Dan, alone in the loft, gets a call from the business manager

Leif:

who lets him know that Rufus is going to start receiving dividends in

Leif:

about six weeks.

Steve:

Yep. Another guy just. Oh, here's some important

Steve:

business information for you for your dad

Steve:

kid who does

Steve:

this.

Leif:

He must. It must actually depend as secretary again.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah, it had to

Steve:

be a receptionist or secretary because every one of

Steve:

them on this show should be fired.

Leif:

Maybe Dan should actually has his future

Leif:

career.

Steve:

Yeah, he could because then he can tell everybody everything

Steve:

all the time.

Leif:

Serena goes to Blair's house. Looks like the plan is

Leif:

back on. Poppy must pay.

Leif:

Georgina is going to pretend to be a rich Canadian who just

Leif:

moved to New York and is planning on meeting Poppy for tea.

Steve:

I loved it. I love the non judging breakfast

Steve:

club talking with each other. Nate with the are you we sure

Steve:

we shouldn't just call the cops? But the way, the way it was

Steve:

cut, the way it was edited, the way it was

Steve:

directed and.

Leif:

Yeah, that's actually the next scene after the commercial break.

Steve:

Oh, my bad.

Leif:

Yeah, so you're right. Yeah. We come back from the

Leif:

commercial and the NJBC is ironing out

Leif:

the plan when Serena gets a call from Dan. Serena

Leif:

is passive aggressive because Dan ratted her out, but still

Leif:

tells Dan that the plan is still on.

Steve:

Yes. And Yeah, like I said, I love them being

Steve:

together here.

Steve:

I love that they all

Steve:

contributed. They all shot lines

Steve:

in Chuck smelling Georgina.

Leif:

Smells of aspiration.

Steve:

So fucking creepy.

Leif:

Rufus and Jenny are at the penthouse setting up for Rufus

Leif:

proposal. When Lily gets home earlier than expected,

Leif:

Jenny whisks her up the stairs to.

Steve:

Distract her little J with her sweet little pep

Steve:

talk for daddy. I love, I love how nervous Rufus

Steve:

is and how Jenny gives him the pep talk and I love how supportive

Steve:

she is.

Leif:

And Jenny's rapid fire explanation of Twilight is

Leif:

so of the time.

Steve:

Oh yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

The NJBC plus G arrives in New

Leif:

York's famous Russian Tea room. The girls enter,

Leif:

but Nate holds Chuck back for a private conversation

Leif:

about their little love triangle with Blair.

Steve:

Yeah, I, I was again on team Nate

Steve:

here. and I was very much like.

Steve:

Because Nate isn't saying you have

Steve:

to back off, you have to leave her alone. He's saying

Steve:

you have to decide if this is what you want or

Steve:

not. Because this is what I want. And so

Steve:

if you don't want it, get out of the way. And if you

Steve:

do, say something so we can work it out. I

Steve:

felt that that was a lot better than last week where he was trying

Steve:

to piss a circle around Blair.

Leif:

I agree. Dan calls Lily and asks about the

Leif:

dividends and then once again spills the tea on Serena's

Leif:

plan at the Russian Tea Room.

Steve:

Narc. Dan is such

Steve:

a narc. Yeah, I don't, I don't blame

Steve:

him. I never, when Dan is a narc, I

Steve:

don't typically Think he's doing the wrong thing. I

Steve:

believe Serena's doing the wrong thing in this.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

Instance.

Leif:

Although Lily might not be the best person to

Leif:

tell.

Steve:

Well, and Lily's not the best person to tell. And the

Steve:

other thing is, Lily isn't handling it any

Steve:

better. Like Serena's handling

Steve:

of it is almost better

Steve:

than. Than Lily's, because at

Steve:

least Serena's, if it would have been

Steve:

executed properly, could prevent her.

Steve:

Poppy, from doing this to other

Steve:

people.

Leif:

Not really, though, because the cops were not the plan.

Steve:

It was the PI they were going.

Leif:

To blackmail her into giving the money back and then. But then let her

Leif:

go.

Steve:

Oh, yeah, that's true.

Leif:

So.

Steve:

So it's not much better.

Leif:

So, honestly, I mean, Lily. Lily's plan is

Leif:

not good for future victims, but it is

Leif:

good for getting the situation solved. And.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Swept by the rug.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Lily immediately calls Serena and orders her to stop

Leif:

the plan. However, Serena ignores her and tells her

Leif:

she's got to go and hangs up.

Steve:

Yep.

Leif:

And then while Lily is making another call,

Leif:

Rufus is still setting up for the proposal when he stumbles across

Leif:

the investor payout list and sees that he is getting more

Leif:

than the rest. According to the spreadsheet, he only

Leif:

invested 40,000, but is going to be receiving

Leif:

indefinite monthly payments of $5,000.

Steve:

So, first of all, your entire music catalog was only

Steve:

worth 40 grand because that's what you were saying you were

Steve:

gonna use to invest, and

Steve:

you sold it for 40 grand. That doesn't

Steve:

seem like a lot to sell your.

Steve:

To sell the publishing rights. I feel like he'd be

Steve:

making more off of them than that.

Steve:

And also, why are you snooping, Rufus?

Steve:

You found this document.

Steve:

Other people's financial business.

Steve:

Why are you snooping?

Leif:

I like how it's just in there with bags of money, too.

Steve:

Yeah.

Steve:

Yeah, because that's

Steve:

how they keep their money.

Leif:

Probably have, like, dollar signs on.

Leif:

Poppy is meeting Georgina's new alter ego,

Leif:

Cheryl Lynn. Gossip Girl has this to say before

Leif:

going to break. They say

Leif:

that numbers don't lie and money talks, but does

Leif:

Georgina still speak Poppy's language?

Steve:

I love Georgina. The Sex and the

Steve:

City, like, playing into the

Steve:

whole, I'm a

Steve:

damsel in distress socialite,

Steve:

or I'm trying to be in this circle

Steve:

and trying to do these things.

Steve:

She plays into it so well,

Steve:

and it made me think she's using.

Steve:

She's still using all of the Christian

Steve:

motif m in it. But you see

Steve:

the schemer in here.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

You see the person who loves taking on this character

Steve:

and running a scheme and

Steve:

plays it so well, by being

Steve:

disarming and be almost

Steve:

self humiliating. Because you know that if you were to

Steve:

actually say to somebody like Poppy Lipton, are you a

Steve:

Carrie? That they would laugh in your face.

Steve:

Laugh in your face.

Leif:

And we move into Act 3.

Leif:

At the Russian Tea Room, Blair and Chuck are waiting for a

Leif:

text from Georgina. But Blair use it as an opportunity

Leif:

to give Chuck one more chance to admit his feelings.

Leif:

Chuck once again fails to man up.

Steve:

I like that. Blair says, we'll figure it

Steve:

out. All of us. I recognize

Steve:

that if you and I happen, there's a

Steve:

problem with Nate, but we will all work

Steve:

this out. It. You just have to let

Steve:

me know.

Steve:

Also, stupid Chuck.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

So stupid.

Leif:

Serena overhears their conversation. And once Blair

Leif:

walks away, Chuck admits that he does love Blair, but he

Leif:

can't make her happy.

Steve:

Poor Chuck. I, think that the

Steve:

real turning point, and this goes back to the

Steve:

conversation that he had with Blair. I think the real

Steve:

turning point was when Blair said to him,

Steve:

you just want me to be as miserable as you are. And I

Steve:

think that that really

Steve:

moved something in Chuck that he

Steve:

loves this person and never wants her to be as miserable as

Steve:

he is.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Georgina is roping Poppy in for the takedown, but it

Leif:

seems to stumble when Poppy demands cash

Leif:

again.

Steve:

Georgina staying in character, having

Steve:

the whole oh my,

Steve:

my sweet Bible camp, if I can ask my

Steve:

daddy for more money. And I

Steve:

loved. I loved it.

Leif:

Nate enters the restaurant and lets Serena and Blair know that

Leif:

the police are outside.

Steve:

Yeah, something's not right here.

Leif:

Immediately I was like, that wasn't the plan.

Steve:

Yeah, I was like, the police. That wasn't the plan.

Leif:

Georgina gets a text from Blair that the cops are outside,

Leif:

so reluctantly hands Papi the bag.

Steve:

Bag of cash.

Leif:

Serena goes outside to get the cops and come in and

Leif:

arrest Poppy. But it turns out that the Serena is the one being

Leif:

arrested. As Serena's being cuffed, she tells Blair and

Leif:

Nate to call Chuck. Poppy slips off in the

Leif:

confusion.

Steve:

Yeah. Lily is having her daughter

Steve:

arrested to protect her reputation.

Leif:

I do get it. because she does explain it a.

Steve:

Little more later when this can go

Steve:

away.

Leif:

And you know, getting arrested is not the thing

Leif:

that's gonna hurt her reputation. It's conning her friends and

Leif:

family, you know, into losing money.

Steve:

Yeah, that.

Leif:

That's the bad thing.

Steve:

And I do get that.

Leif:

And we go to commercial and come back for the

Leif:

epilogue. Blair enters the

Leif:

restaurant and blames a dumbfounded Georgina for setting

Leif:

them all up.

Steve:

Oh, B, that's a mistake. Yeah,

Steve:

I get why? You're suspicious.

Steve:

But that's a mistake. B.

Leif:

He pushed a little too hard.

Steve:

Although the way that this wraps up,

Steve:

maybe she pushed her in in the exact right direction too.

Leif:

Yeah. Yeah. See what happens? Rufus

Leif:

confronts Lily about the list and her ultimate

Leif:

repayment plan for him. Rufus gets

Leif:

extremely self righteous. and Lily was

Leif:

wrong to go behind Rufus back, but I totally understand where she's coming

Leif:

from. When she told him how hard it was to watch him agonize

Leif:

about paying her dance tuition.

Steve:

Awesome. You wouldn't let me send my kid to

Steve:

jail. How come

Steve:

you get to send your kid to jail and I can't send my kid to

Steve:

jail?

Leif:

It's a fair point.

Steve:

It is, it is. It's also,

Steve:

I thought that was just a really

Steve:

funny moment for him to

Steve:

be like, wait, you wouldn't let me do that.

Leif:

Well, I think at this point, Rufus does realize that was the wrong

Leif:

move.

Steve:

Yeah, I agree. I think you're right.

Steve:

And I think that him seeing someone else do it

Steve:

reinforces that it was the wrong move.

Leif:

Let her play for college. Seriously.

Steve:

But seriously, you have

Steve:

a ridiculously wealthy

Steve:

billionaire wife, soon to be

Steve:

fiance. If you didn't get. If you didn't

Steve:

bail because she wants to help you

Steve:

out. And I, do understand

Steve:

the embarrassment angle

Steve:

of, for Rufus if that was a public

Steve:

thing. Now I also understand it's kind of

Steve:

condescending to slip him money Behind.

Leif:

Oh, yeah, behind the back is wrong. But when

Leif:

she offered it, just take it.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

99% of the population can't afford to send their

Leif:

kids to Yale.

Steve:

Yeah. And your girlfriend is

Steve:

like, here is the money for it. It's

Steve:

like, it's basically like if you bought a

Steve:

sandwich at the police station.

Leif:

Serena discovers that it was Lily that had her arrested

Leif:

for stealing, quote unquote, the tennis bracelet that Lily

Leif:

gave her at the beginning of the episode. Again, very good

Leif:

setup and payoff.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah, it was really well done.

Leif:

Rufus finds out that Lily had Serena arrested

Leif:

and then points out the hypocrisy of shopping or

Leif:

stopping him from doing the same to Jenny. Earlier in the season,

Leif:

Rufus decides that the proposal was a big mistake.

Steve:

Oh, I jumped ahead. I didn't realize I jumped ahead there.

Leif:

Yeah, the first conversation was more arguing about the money. And then he

Leif:

finds out because, she gets the call.

Leif:

And Riff is like, what was that about? And he's

Leif:

like, oh, yeah, Serena's arrested.

Steve:

Yeah, I had her arrested. Yeah, I was thinking that that was all the

Steve:

same scene, but it wasn't. But I had her

Steve:

Arrested. I'll go with you.

Leif:

No, it's all right.

Steve:

You don't have to. Okay, fine. I did.

Leif:

I'm going to let her stew there for a while first.

Steve:

You wouldn't let me put my kid.

Steve:

In a cop car, but you're going to have your kids stew in jail

Steve:

for a couple days.

Leif:

Outside the police station, Nate and Blair

Leif:

mutually decide that moving in together isn't the right move right

Leif:

now. However, prom might be a bit more suitable considering

Leif:

their ages.

Steve:

Very mature conversation. Yeah, they were very.

Steve:

Both of them were like, this is where this

Steve:

came from. And it wasn't okay, we are 18.

Leif:

There was no rush to play let's.

Steve:

Go to prom first. That was

Steve:

cute. You should ask me to play prom first.

Steve:

Cute and very grown up. I liked it.

Leif:

And then the episode ending montage begins with

Leif:

Georgina calling Blair to tell Blair that she is going after

Leif:

Poppy. It appears Georgie is back to her old

Leif:

self. Tell Jesus that the bitch is back.

Steve:

That I loved it. I thought she was so

Steve:

great. And seeing the. I don't

Steve:

want to say heel turn, but

Steve:

seeing the sunglasses on

Steve:

and the I am not that sweet little

Steve:

girl anymore. You. You brought it out of me.

Leif:

And. Yeah, and it is one of the most iconic lines from

Leif:

the show.

Steve:

Yeah, yeah, it was fantastic.

Steve:

watching this episode

Steve:

now I understand why Shannon wanted to be

Steve:

on a Georgina episode so bad. Watching

Steve:

this now, I understand why Shannon loves Georgina so

Steve:

much.

Leif:

Lily is drinking alone. Rufus arrives home and tells

Leif:

Dan and Jenny to return the ring before sulking

Leif:

off to his room.

Steve:

Mr. Dramatic Pants. @ least

Steve:

this time it's an adult conflict between

Steve:

Rufus and Lily and not, how many people did you bang?

Steve:

Because the last time they had a conflict, it was

Steve:

silly and juvenile.

Leif:

And this is a little silly. And you have to. Because it's about versus

Leif:

pride.

Steve:

It is. And Lily trying to

Steve:

sneak him money that he wouldn't accept

Steve:

otherwise. And

Steve:

another piece of this that I keep

Steve:

reflecting on is if Lilly

Steve:

gave you a $5,000 a

Steve:

month allowance, like this thing

Steve:

is, no one would know. No one would know except for you

Steve:

and Lily. Your kids don't even have to know.

Steve:

So what is the embarrassment?

Steve:

And I'll also say this from my point of view

Steve:

where for the past six years, my wife

Steve:

supported me. You know, I was on workers comp.

Steve:

I was injured, I couldn't work, wasn't allowed to make money,

Steve:

and my wife had to cover the

Steve:

bills, had to cover most of

Steve:

our expenses, most of my

Steve:

things that I would need from day to day.

Steve:

And yes, it is. I

Steve:

Understand the embarrassment

Steve:

angle of not being able to support yourself, because I've lived

Steve:

that firsthand. But this isn't even not being able to support

Steve:

yourself. And the only people that knew that Robin

Steve:

was doing that was me and Robin and

Steve:

anyone that we trusted with that

Steve:

information. And now all of you. But

Steve:

because, Because again, I'm also not the prideful person

Steve:

that Rufus is. I knew I was in a

Steve:

situation that I could not

Steve:

provide what I wanted to.

Leif:

And you. Were you already married when you went on

Leif:

disability?

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

That's slightly different.

Steve:

There is. You're right. There is that difference

Steve:

that we were already married. We

Steve:

were. We were married. We were already

Steve:

married, but for like three or four months.

Leif:

Yeah.

Steve:

So it wasn't. It was new. We were only

Steve:

married that summer. We were married

Steve:

in July. I was hurt in November.

Leif:

Chuck, Nate, and Blair are each using their own unique

Leif:

methods of persuasion to get Serena out of jail.

Steve:

I loved. I loved, loved,

Steve:

loved this.

Leif:

you got Chuck trying to blackmail. Nate's using

Leif:

his grandfather and the mayor connections,

Leif:

and Blair's just using her entitled whining.

Steve:

So great, great. I loved it. It just.

Steve:

It just felt so. I

Steve:

want more of the. The non judging

Steve:

Breakfast club doing stuff. I feel like it's. This

Steve:

is the second time that they've done a

Steve:

story with them. Both times it was the

Steve:

end of the season, so I'm assuming that that's going to become an

Steve:

end of season thing because I know that they

Steve:

have those patterns and I'm excited for that.

Steve:

I loved this.

Leif:

And then the final scene of the episode is Serena getting

Leif:

her now infamous mugshot taken.

Leif:

And Gossip Girl ends the episode.

Leif:

Oh, no. We warned you that no good would come from

Leif:

spinning a wicked web. You just got tangled up in

Leif:

your own lies. And the more you twist,

Leif:

the tighter the trap until you're locked in a

Leif:

prison of your own making. Smile for the camera.

Leif:

S xo exo

Leif:

Gossip.

Steve:

The only lie Serena told is that she was pregnant.

Steve:

She. Well, I mean, this all the. I guess

Steve:

it's just.

Leif:

It's the whole montage, you know, that's broken. It's broken up. I

Leif:

put it all together just because it sounds better, but yeah, it's broken up over all

Leif:

those final scenes.

Steve:

Yeah. And all of it all falling. Yeah, I remember

Steve:

now. The mug shot is great.

Leif:

Yeah, it's all over the Internet and it

Leif:

actually comes back in the show. Like, there's various

Leif:

shots of it throughout.

Steve:

To get one of those hung up in here.

Steve:

Serena mugshot next to the other Gossip Girl posters.

Leif:

Yes, but that is our episode what's coming

Leif:

next.

Steve:

So I am predicting

Steve:

I'm going to start with Georgina, that Georgina

Steve:

is going to work her

Steve:

own scheme to fix the Poppy

Steve:

situation and get her money back. And in

Steve:

doing so is going to have a greater

Steve:

turn to then target either

Steve:

Blair or the non judging breakfast Club.

Steve:

That will result in her having to be shuffled

Steve:

off again like at the end of last season.

Leif:

So we, got 24. So we got two more episodes.

Steve:

After two more episodes.

Leif:

Is that gonna happen this season?

Steve:

Yes. Yeah. I believe that the next episode is her

Steve:

going after Poppy and then the season

Steve:

finale is going to be

Steve:

her going after the rest or maybe just

Steve:

Blair. But I feel like there's going to be a

Steve:

greater turn against them

Steve:

to leave it into the next season for when

Steve:

she eventually comes back next season. is she always

Steve:

an end of season thing or is she.

Steve:

I also predict that Rufus and Lily are going to

Steve:

be fine. Robin, is like, they're broken up. They're going

Steve:

to break up. This is it. They're broken up now. And I'm like,

Steve:

this is too central to the show.

Steve:

This relationship is way too

Steve:

important to this show to end.

Steve:

So I think they're gonna be fine.

Leif:

Anything else?

Steve:

I don't think so. yeah, I don't think

Steve:

so.

Leif:

Well, let's get into some segments then.

Leif:

This week in Fan and we jumped into the wayback machine to

Leif:

visit the television without pity forums from

Leif:

2009. Hello there,

Leif:

Peabody. Here. And this is the wayback machine

Leif:

for traveling through time. And this is my boy,

Leif:

Sherman. Speak, Sherman.

Steve:

Hello.

Leif:

Good boy. Overall, it was a

Leif:

good episode. Most people really liked it.

Steve:

Yeah, it was.

Leif:

Yeah. Eric is the only sane Vander

Leif:

Woodsen.

Steve:

Eric is the only sane Upper East Sider.

Steve:

Let's broaden that umbrella a little bit.

Leif:

Most fans are bored. And over the Chuck and Blair back

Leif:

and forth.

Steve:

Yeah. So I'm glad that's finally done.

Leif:

Dan needs to shut his trap and go back to Brooklyn.

Steve:

Narc.

Leif:

Blair is going to regret pushing Georgina over the

Leif:

edge.

Steve:

Agreed. That is my big prediction.

Leif:

Yeah. And finally, Rufus, get

Leif:

over yourself.

Steve:

Get over yourself.

Steve:

Take the money. Put your kid through college.

Steve:

The college you dreamt of his whole life that

Steve:

he got into.

Leif:

You, were willing to take financial aid. Why is that any different?

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah. Taking

Steve:

financial aid from taxpayers versus somebody who

Steve:

hardly pays taxes.

Steve:

That would be a write off for her. Yeah.

Steve:

Charitable donation.

Leif:

The Dan Humphrey Foundation.

Steve:

Dan Humphrey Foundation. She could start a foundation and have

Steve:

a tax write off. You're benefiting her,

Steve:

Rufus.

Leif:

Let's move into episode grades. What do you got this

Leif:

week?

Steve:

A. I, I. And, bordering A,

Steve:

this might be. This is definitely top five

Steve:

episodes. This is one of the best episodes of Gossip

Steve:

Girl so far.

Leif:

I agree. Writing was on point. Directing was

Leif:

very good. Acting was good. we didn't even mention it,

Leif:

but, you know, the Layton tearing up in the

Leif:

Chuck and Blair scene, it was perfect.

Steve:

We don't talk about her acting as much as we used to because

Steve:

it's just a given. But, yeah, brilliant.

Leif:

And I'm gonna just go ahead and give it the A plus.

Steve:

Yeah, it deserves it. I. You know what? I'll

Steve:

do it too. I'm gonna give it the bump. I'm gonna give it the A plus

Steve:

bump. It was super smooth. Which

Steve:

is another thing, like, Gossip Girl often

Steve:

has hang ups somewhere in an

Steve:

episode that you kind of go, what?

Steve:

Why would they do that? And in this, when

Steve:

they did it, my big why would they do that? Was

Steve:

letting Gabriel go. But it was also so

Steve:

in character for everything going on.

Leif:

And the biggest plus is that everyone's story

Leif:

was intertwined.

Steve:

Yes, everyone's story. Everyone.

Leif:

You didn't have Dan of Anessa, like, sitting off in the loft drinking

Leif:

by themselves. And, everyone was coming

Leif:

together.

Steve:

Yeah. You pretty much had every

Steve:

character in the room with every other character

Steve:

at some point in this episode,

Steve:

when Dan walks in and when Georgina walks

Steve:

in, we got to get this crazy out of here.

Leif:

Going on over to Stockwatch. He got going up.

Steve:

I had Poppy going up because she seems

Steve:

to be getting away with this. I had Eric

Steve:

going up for being Eric. I had

Steve:

Jenny going up as well. And

Steve:

yeah, those are my ups.

Leif:

I have the exact same thing. Poppy's

Leif:

winning the scheme. Eric was sane

Leif:

and pragmatic as usual, and Jenny

Leif:

was being a good supported daughter and helping out, being a

Leif:

good wing woman for, Which is a little bit weird, but

Leif:

she was doing her job.

Steve:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

Who do you got going down?

Steve:

Serena, Lily,

Steve:

Rufus, and Chuck.

Steve:

I didn't give it to Blair because I felt like Blair kind

Steve:

of landed in the middle because she's still

Steve:

working things out with Nate. I didn't give

Steve:

up or down to Nate because I feel like he landed right where

Steve:

he was previously. I. I felt like

Steve:

a lot of people didn't go anywhere but

Steve:

serene Serena in jail, Lily being

Steve:

a horrible mom and pretty shitty

Steve:

girlfriend, Rufus being a shitty

Steve:

boyfriend, and Chuck just

Steve:

being shitty.

Leif:

So I had the same four as you. But also, I'm

Leif:

gonna add Dan, because once again, it looks like he's

Leif:

losing his tuition for like the third time.

Steve:

I was so, you know, I should put Dan on there. I was

Steve:

really back and forth on Dan because I felt like he

Steve:

was doing the right thing in the episode despite losing his

Steve:

tuition again.

Leif:

Yeah, I think he was doing the right thing. But yeah,

Leif:

again he's losing his tuition for

Leif:

like the third time now.

Leif:

I also had Nate and Blair because they're both

Leif:

with people that. I mean, Blair is not in love with

Leif:

Nate and Nate is with someone that doesn't love

Leif:

him.

Steve:

that's fair.

Leif:

I also have Georgina going down because she lost her Bible

Leif:

money.

Steve:

The reason I didn't have Georgia, because I thought of that

Steve:

too. But other than the Bible money, I

Steve:

had Georgina going up because she was

Steve:

awesome in the whole episode.

Leif:

She was awesome, but it was not what she wanted

Leif:

to happen. Yeah, she like,

Leif:

like I said, Lily was also entertaining, but she was

Leif:

horrible.

Steve:

Yeah, that's true, that's true. But yeah, I'm keeping, I'm

Steve:

keeping Georgina even for now because I want to see what she

Steve:

does. But here's the best outfits

Steve:

from the.

Steve:

Last episode we've seen.

Leif:

Who do you got for best outfit?

Steve:

Georgina. That the purple outfit? The

Steve:

purple dress with the purple headband. I just

Steve:

thought it really

Steve:

popped. it really

Steve:

communicated the angle.

Steve:

She was going for the

Steve:

wholesome yet stepping into

Steve:

society look. I really enjoyed that

Steve:

outfit.

Leif:

For me, it was Jenny's leather jacket with the black

Leif:

mini and like the assortment of necklaces.

Leif:

Yeah, the jacket necklaces really made m it work.

Steve:

It was, yeah, that was awesome. Yeah, I really liked it.

Leif:

Well, that is it for segments. You got anything to plug

Leif:

this week?

Steve:

I do. On March

Steve:

15, I will be at

Steve:

Dawson Street Pub playing

Steve:

some Black Sabbath songs. There will be a night of Black

Steve:

Sabbath music with a, few different bands. And then

Steve:

they asked me to come and do a few ukulele

Steve:

Black Sabbath covers. So I will be doing that on

Steve:

March 15th at Dawson Street Pub in

Steve:

Roxboro. Maniung, Philadelphia, whatever

Steve:

part you want to call it.

Leif:

I think Jake Shikamboro does do a black savvy

Leif:

song. I want to look into that.

Steve:

Okay. Right now I'm definitely doing Sweet

Steve:

Leif because of my affection for the

Steve:

Sweet Leif. I really

Steve:

want to do something from the Glenn Hughes era. I find him

Steve:

to be a phenomenal. I can't sing like Glenn Hughes, but

Steve:

I find him to be a phenomenal singer and I

Steve:

really like some of his work with Sabbath

Steve:

and I also kind of feel like I have to do something from the

Steve:

do era because I Fucking love Dio. I'm thinking

Steve:

maybe Heaven and hell.

Leif:

Nothing for me to plug this week so I will just go ahead and

Leif:

24, the Pent ultimate episode of the

Leif:

season titled Valley

Leif:

Girls.

Steve:

Very excited.

Leif:

The max episode description reads

Leif:

flashback to Lily's life in the

Leif:

80s.

Leif:

And this was actually a failed backdoor

Leif:

pilot.

Steve:

No kidding.

Leif:

This was. They were trying to make a show of Lily

Leif:

and rufus in the 80s and supposedly

Leif:

they're gonna rope in Sandy and Kirsten from the OC as

Leif:

well. It's gonna be a big crossover universe. But it

Leif:

never happened.

Steve:

I'd watch that.

Leif:

I would watch that too. Especially, especially when you see the

Leif:

casting. They do very. They did very good casting.

Steve:

I'm excited.

Leif:

Lily and her sister.

Steve:

I'm excited. Her sister.

Steve:

We have never heard of Lily's sister.

Steve:

we've never even heard Cece mention Lily's sister.

Steve:

I don't even know the writers know Lily has his

Steve:

sisters.

Leif:

Well, she does starting next week.

Steve:

I think they find out this week.

Steve:

Wait, she has a sister? Just everybody in the writer's room when Josh

Steve:

Wirtz comes in, and then her sister, and they're all like, wait, what?

Leif:

Well, until next time. You know you love us.
