Leif:

Oh, I did like the fun quip about Romeo and Juliet.

Leif:

I. Technically, they don't share

Leif:

DNA.

Leif:

Unrelated.

Leif:

I mean, they're sharing DNA. Possibly,

Leif:

but they don't share DNA.

Leif:

Yeah, they're not actually

Leif:

siblings.

Leif:

Hey, Upper east siders, and all you scandal loving listeners out

Leif:

there, you just tuned into the non judging breakfast

Leif:

pod where the coffee is strong, the

Leif:

waffles are fresh, and the gossip is hotter than

Leif:

ever. My name is Leif, and I'm your seasoned

Leif:

Gossip Girl veteran.

Leif:

And I'm Steve, the newbie, the greenhorn

Leif:

that, I don't know, Leif. What do we call this season

Leif:

two Gossip Girl newbie?

Leif:

why are you bothering about this right now?

Leif:

Well, hey, I still need to get board approval here,

Leif:

so.

Leif:

Fine, whatever. Now go breathe somewhere else.

Leif:

So here's the deal, folks. Leap has been watching Gossip

Leif:

Girl since the very beginning, and I'm watching for the

Leif:

very first time. And together, we're your dynamic

Leif:

duo, bringing you all of the drama, romance, and

Leif:

sometimes questionable fashion choices of

Leif:

this iconic 2007 series.

Leif:

That's right. Each week we'll take a deep dive into the

Leif:

show one episode at a time. We'll analyze all the

Leif:

parallels, obscure references, and of course, the

Leif:

couture catastrophes. Plus, we'll also be

Leif:

touching on all the behind the scenes gossip and some stories from

Leif:

fandom.

Leif:

And since we're all about inclusivity here at the non

Leif:

judging breakfast pod, there's always a seat for you at

Leif:

the non judging breakfast table. So go ahead and grab your

Leif:

coffee, a mimosa, or some of Nate and

Leif:

Chuck's special medicine if it's that kind of day. And

Leif:

let's get into this.

Leif:

And we are going to be releasing this episode on the week of

Leif:

Thanksgiving. So, we will be Talking about season

Leif:

two, episode 15, Gone with the Will,

Leif:

of course, based on the movie and novel Gone with the Wind.

Leif:

Gone with the Wind. Yeah, of course.

Leif:

Not a favorite of mine.

Leif:

Never seen the whole thing start to

Leif:

finish. I know my parents would like watch

Leif:

it sometimes when it was on and it was just. It

Leif:

would not captivate me enough to watch it. And

Leif:

then by the time I was like, by the time I should have just

Leif:

sought it out and watched it on my own, I never did.

Leif:

Well, I mean, besides, for the whole antebellum theme

Leif:

of it all, the main relationship is

Leif:

very abusive.

Leif:

That's, that was what I always

Leif:

understood. That's like.

Leif:

Yeah, not. Not for me.

Leif:

Yeah, there was really nothing about it that I found

Leif:

appealing.

Leif:

But this episode originally aired on January

Leif:

12, 2009. And it was written by

Leif:

Amanda Lasher, who lasted pretapour

Leif:

J. And she, she's pretty

Leif:

much three to four episodes a season from season two to

Leif:

season five. So she's here to stay.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

And it was directed by Trisha Brock. this is

Leif:

her one and only episode of Gossip Girl. But

Leif:

she has been directing TV since 2012.

Leif:

Some of the notable shows she worked on, Grey's

Leif:

Anatomy, Veronica Mars, Ugly Betty,

Leif:

the L word, Breaking Bad, 30

Leif:

Rock, the Walking Dead, and Bridgerton.

Leif:

You know, it's funny, I'm starting to find that

Leif:

like when you. When we have these

Leif:

one episode directors, they

Leif:

tend to have really good

Leif:

directing, even in spite of

Leif:

some bad writing. There is a lot of.

Leif:

There.

Leif:

I found there to be a lot of

Leif:

bad writing in this episode. This episode I felt was

Leif:

written to just get through it with these

Leif:

huge bombs. That could have been

Leif:

so much better.

Leif:

Why don't you go ahead and read the Vulture recap?

Leif:

All right. So the Vulture recap.

Leif:

Watching last night's episode of Gossip Girl,

Leif:

we felt like we were listening to a song composed

Leif:

only of choruses. Like we were

Leif:

eating sundae without the ice cream. Or watching

Leif:

a figure skater perform a set of only

Leif:

the insane pirouette moves. All

Leif:

can be the best parts of their respective

Leif:

experiences, but they are best not

Leif:

gorged on alone, lest you end up

Leif:

nauseous and dizzy. So it was

Leif:

with last night's installment of the greatest

Leif:

show of our time gone with the

Leif:

will, which was made up entirely

Leif:

of twists. Chuck found out his dad left him

Leif:

in charge of Bass Industries. Then it had it.

Leif:

Then had it taken away due to the

Leif:

machinations of his uncle and a

Leif:

fine print morality clause. Less than 40

Leif:

minutes later, things seemed like they were going to

Leif:

be okay with Blair and Chuck for at

Leif:

least one episode.

Leif:

But they weren't.

Leif:

And she threw peonies at his feet

Leif:

forever. Dan and Serena seemed like they

Leif:

were finally doomed. Then they weren't.

Leif:

Then they were again. But most head

Leif:

spinning of all was the plotline between

Leif:

Lily and Rufus, which playing out in

Leif:

a Boston hotel room, felt like. The

Leif:

Exterminating angel meets Days of Our

Leif:

Lives. In the beginning of the

Leif:

episode, the once and forever lovers

Leif:

swore their relationship was over and were

Leif:

told they couldn't meet the child that Lily had given up

Leif:

for adoption. Then they were told maybe they could

Leif:

meet the child. Then they were told they couldn't again

Leif:

ever. Then they had sex, after

Leif:

which it was indicated they may be able to meet the

Leif:

child after all. So they hot footed it to meet

Leif:

the child's Adoptive father,

Leif:

only to find out actually the

Leif:

child was dead. He had drowned

Leif:

just last year. Too

Leif:

late. But also convenient.

Leif:

Too convenient. It turned out the kid

Leif:

wasn't dead. They were just having the wool pulled

Leif:

over their eyes by some sneaky

Leif:

Bostonians. Double

Leif:

convenient. all that said, there were some

Leif:

funny lines about tuna fish sandwiches and some

Leif:

surprisingly realistic moments.

Leif:

Yeah, I guess that.

Leif:

I think it's pretty spot on. I mean, that

Leif:

they really did just try to cram

Leif:

shit.

Leif:

He's it. He's out. He's it. He's out.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

And what's with all the shade towards tuna fish?

Leif:

Yeah, well. Well,

Leif:

as somebody that hates tuna fish, I,

Leif:

I. That all of the different tuna fish hate

Leif:

resonated with me. My

Leif:

mom made a tuna casserole when I was

Leif:

growing up and it has kind of

Leif:

ruined tuna fish for

Leif:

me.

Leif:

Across the board that.

Leif:

Yeah, I can do tuna rolls. I can do like,

Leif:

sushi. I can do that. But I can't do, like,

Leif:

canned tuna. No. Can't do a tuna

Leif:

sandwich. No.

Leif:

It's why you get, like, canned tuna

Leif:

rolls as well, like mayonnaise and tuna in. In a

Leif:

roll.

Leif:

See? Yeah, I

Leif:

can yuck your yum. Not going to yuck your yum.

Leif:

Go ahead and get into the episode. Act

Leif:

one begins. The episode opens with Chuck

Leif:

getting dressed while Gossip Girl narrates. When

Leif:

most people lose a parent, they inherit sorrow,

Leif:

loss, and a closet full of outdated clothes.

Leif:

But on the Upper east side, death's sad chapter

Leif:

comes with a silver lining. Or a gold one, if your

Leif:

relatives invested wisely in precious metals.

Leif:

And this was pretty much just sort of a montage of

Leif:

people getting ready.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

And they pull up. Yeah.

Leif:

We shift to Jack exiting his limo with a

Leif:

smirk on his face. Blair shows up and

Leif:

rebuffs Jack's. Jack's. Attempts to ask a high

Leif:

school student to come out with him. Later, Jack threatens to

Leif:

tell Chuck about whatever it was that happened

Leif:

in On New Year's.

Leif:

Yeah, Jack, you're

Leif:

obsessing over this teenager.

Leif:

So we. We lose one inappropriate relationship with

Leif:

Aaron leaving, and now we got another one to take its place.

Leif:

Yeah. And. And he's trying to

Leif:

groom her in real time,

Leif:

like, only newer since New

Leif:

Year's. Gross.

Leif:

Well, I. He. He actually provided another.

Leif:

Longer, probably

Leif:

new. Newer.

Leif:

Newer, like holidays or something.

Leif:

And that makes it even creepier that he's known her since she

Leif:

was, like, a little girl. It's some

Leif:

le miserab.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Blair and Jack beat up with Chuck and are soon joined by

Leif:

Nate. Chuck thinks the will is

Leif:

just One last chance for bar to show his

Leif:

disappointment and his son.

Leif:

So, glad to see Nate. It was so nice of Nate

Leif:

to show up for Chuck and be there.

Leif:

And is he still using public transportation?

Leif:

Because the buses were, like, right behind him and they

Leif:

pulled away as he walked up.

Leif:

That is true. He probably

Leif:

is. Yeah. respect. And it was

Leif:

just always the good friend. It just really

Leif:

put a smile on my face.

Leif:

Nate, a man of the people

Leif:

in Brooklyn. Jenny and Dan are arguing about

Leif:

Rufus and Lily's relationship status. Dan

Leif:

is still clearly keeping the secret. As the

Leif:

scene ends, we see Dan ignore Serena's call.

Leif:

Yeah. Any Dan hate that there may have been

Leif:

in this episode from people I think is

Leif:

undeserved. I feel for him this entire episode.

Leif:

I just felt like it.

Leif:

He avoiding Sereno had to

Leif:

just be really tough on this kid. And the one thing the

Leif:

Vulture report mentioned was the

Leif:

very real moments. And I think Dan

Leif:

really is that moment. Yeah. Every time

Leif:

he's on, what he.

Leif:

Said to her at the end, like, I couldn't be around you and lie

Leif:

to you.

Leif:

Yeah, yeah, it was. Yeah. Dan was amazing.

Leif:

In this episode, at the will reading, Chuck

Leif:

is left with all of Bart's personal assets.

Leif:

Our Bass industries is split three ways.

Leif:

49% goes to Lily. And the board

Leif:

of a controlling 51% is revealed in a

Leif:

personal letter to Chuck. Chuck, however,

Leif:

declines to read it.

Leif:

Yeah, very Chuck. Very. I don't want to hear my

Leif:

dad's disappointment. Also very

Leif:

predictable as to what was in that

Leif:

letter.

Leif:

M. And, you know, we see Blair

Leif:

and Nate sitting outside the office because they're not allowed in.

Leif:

But of course, Blair has to medal and.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Barges in and takes the letter from Jack and opens and reads

Leif:

it.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Apparently Bart had faith in Chuck after all. But

Leif:

Chuck says too little, too late and offers to

Leif:

give the company to Jack, who seems to really

Leif:

want it.

Leif:

Yeah, With a

Leif:

creepy wink at Nate at

Leif:

the end of it.

Leif:

Yeah. so the Forbes also does that to

Leif:

me. That was more of a. Okay,

Leif:

sport. This is mine.

Leif:

I got that. That. I took it the same.

Leif:

I didn't take it as innuendo or as

Leif:

sexual. I took it as still just

Leif:

kid. Slimy. Yeah, you know,

Leif:

slimy. Like, hey, I just won. you know,

Leif:

like, oh, you're. You're bragging

Leif:

to teenagers that you party with this

Leif:

guy.

Leif:

We get some Serena Eric time, and Eric is complaining

Leif:

that Jenny keeps third wheeling on her his dates with

Leif:

Jonathan. They arrive at school, and Jenny is with

Leif:

Jonathan, and they have already planned a night for the three of them

Leif:

together.

Leif:

I really hated this whole storyline.

Leif:

I hated the whole third wheel storyline

Leif:

because it was just a forced

Leif:

conflict for the resolution at the end.

Leif:

And they have other things that could be better.

Leif:

I don't think that was forced at all. And I saw

Leif:

several people in the forums mentioning that same exact situation happening

Leif:

with friends of theirs.

Leif:

Really?

Leif:

Yeah, it's, apparently. And they also

Leif:

commented it's basically a Will Grace stereotype. It's like,

Leif:

basically Will Grace.

Leif:

Yeah, that. That's fair. I, I get that.

Leif:

I think that my problem with it

Leif:

feeling forced was that

Leif:

it just sort of felt like it came out of

Leif:

nowhere. That all of a sudden this is a

Leif:

problem. And it didn't see. I don't know. It

Leif:

didn't. It felt forced in the.

Leif:

It felt like they really needed to find conflict

Leif:

for them.

Leif:

And that's true, but I just don't think it was

Leif:

for you. Remember, there was a time jump. So

Leif:

this has been going off for a few weeks.

Leif:

That's true. And that is one of those things

Leif:

that I need to remember that there is a time jump and

Leif:

that this is also, as you brought up the Will and

Leif:

Grace thing, which makes it so much more

Leif:

relevant to the time that

Leif:

this was happening.

Leif:

Serena fies Dan in the courtyard. Serena

Leif:

is convinced that Dan's avoidance is because he thinks their parents

Leif:

are hooking up, which she assures him they aren't.

Leif:

Dan is once again forced to lie and pretend to go along

Leif:

with it. Fuck you, Rufus.

Leif:

Yeah, again, felt so bad for Dan and

Leif:

you, Rufus.

Leif:

Speaking of. Rufus and Lily are in the waiting room and

Leif:

Rufus gets a call from Dan. Rufus

Leif:

reiterate, reiterates that Dan needs to continue

Leif:

to lie for Lily. However, the

Leif:

minions overhear Dan's lying about lying to Serena. Of

Leif:

course.

Leif:

Yeah. And once again, fuck you,

Leif:

Rufus. And I love that Dan went

Leif:

at him and was like, you're the one,

Leif:

you know, that we had to break up because there were

Leif:

secrets all the time. And now I'm the one doing

Leif:

this. You know, it's not okay.

Leif:

Fuck you, Rufus.

Leif:

Fuck you, Rufus.

Leif:

Outside the palace, Blair insists Chuck read

Leif:

the rest of Bart's letter. Jack is pulling a

Leif:

Chuck by lurking in the shadows mean

Leif:

mugging.

Leif:

Damn those kids. Yeah, I would have gotten away with

Leif:

it with the meddling kids.

Leif:

Meddling kids. And I liked that

Leif:

Bart trusted Chuck enough to leave

Leif:

him with an empire that in the end.

Leif:

But also you have to assume that Bart didn't think that

Leif:

he'd be going out this soon. Yeah,

Leif:

Bart was like, you know, I'M sure I've got a few

Leif:

years before this is going to take effect. I'm sure

Leif:

he'll grow up by the time this actually matters.

Leif:

You say the Eric and Jenny thing is forced?

Leif:

This is forced.

Leif:

Oh. Oh, yeah. Well, again, I

Leif:

felt like there's no.

Leif:

Way Bart would reverse that fast and leave him

Leif:

the company.

Leif:

Yeah, yeah. yeah,

Leif:

exactly. There's. I felt,

Leif:

again, most of this episode felt

Leif:

forced, really, that and I. And maybe

Leif:

that's why I felt that the Jenny thing was because I just felt like

Leif:

this whole episode was just being shoved down my throat.

Leif:

Dan is exiting class when everyone in the courtyard gets a

Leif:

blast and starts staring at Dan. Gossip

Leif:

Girl has this to say.

Leif:

Is lowly, lowly boy cheating on our queen

Leif:

sound unlikely? Does the name Georgina ring

Leif:

a bell? Get out your shovels and start digging the

Leif:

dirt, kids. Gossip Girl is going to need a little help

Leif:

getting to the bottom of this mess.

Leif:

So awesome. This is the first time

Leif:

in a while that we've seen Gossip Girl

Leif:

as an active participant

Leif:

character in the show. And she put

Leif:

a hit out on Dan. Amazing. We

Leif:

haven't seen this in forever and I

Leif:

just thought that that was really

Leif:

fucking cool.

Leif:

We move into Act 2. Chuck

Leif:

comes back to the palace to confront Jack and declares

Leif:

he changed his mind and that he plans to

Leif:

follow his father's wishes vis a vis take

Leif:

over Bass Industries. Jack tries to

Leif:

dissuade Chuck and is clearly angry about it, but

Leif:

steps aside, at least for the moment.

Leif:

You noticed that Thai girl I was about to take home had a

Leif:

penis, so were even.

Leif:

Ah. nothing like a little transphobia about.

Leif:

Nothing like a little. Yeah, a little transphobia

Leif:

to get through a scene.

Leif:

But definitely checks out for someone like Chuck. Or like Jack.

Leif:

And like Jack. Well, exactly. That was.

Leif:

And also he just shows he can't

Leif:

be trusted. His reaction to Chuck. Yeah,

Leif:

Chuck. Like you can't trust this guy.

Leif:

Even though he's probably right that Chuck is nowhere near ready

Leif:

to run a billion dollars.

Leif:

Absolutely. Absolutely.

Leif:

But you can't trust.

Leif:

But you can't trust him. Well, yeah, if anything,

Leif:

Chuck should hire someone he can

Leif:

trust to help him run the company.

Leif:

Only he had a stepmom.

Leif:

Yeah, who. Who

Leif:

is a huge

Leif:

shareholder as well.

Leif:

And also, isn't he turning 18 in like five

Leif:

minutes?

Leif:

Yeah, because Blair is already 18.

Leif:

Yeah, exactly. Like

Leif:

till your 18th birthday. He's a senior in high

Leif:

school, so he's waiting till what, like at the

Leif:

latest. Latest September.

Leif:

Like, like when he. When he's entering freshman

Leif:

year.

Leif:

Like one of the recaps I was looking at.

Leif:

Like, they said they watched with their lawyer friend. And that

Leif:

was one of the many lawyer things that were wrong with

Leif:

SNZ episode. It would have been 25 at

Leif:

least.

Leif:

Really? For running the company or for the trust?

Leif:

For the trust.

Leif:

Really? I didn't realize. I thought that they, Because

Leif:

that I found that to be believable, but that.

Leif:

That's really funny.

Leif:

Dan comes out of class to find his locker

Leif:

ransacked. Blair kicks one of his books as she's taking

Leif:

a call from Jack. Jack wants Blair to help him

Leif:

throw a party for Chuck, to which he reluctantly

Leif:

agrees.

Leif:

Yeah, Jack, again, you're being gross and flirting with

Leif:

a high school kid. So disgusting.

Leif:

Say Ally.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

So bad.

Leif:

Rufus and Lily are meeting with a lawyer who did

Leif:

track down their son's adoptive parents. But because

Leif:

it was a closed adoption, the best he can do

Leif:

is tell the parents that Rufus and Lily would like to speak to

Leif:

them. Lily points out that Rufus is a selfish

Leif:

brick.

Leif:

Because Rufus is a selfish prick. He is

Leif:

such a selfish prick in this whole

Leif:

ordeal. And here his

Leif:

kid is begging him to come

Leif:

home, and he's like, but all I am is a

Leif:

dad. Then go be a fucking dad.

Leif:

Yes. maybe they will change their online, but you can still wait

Leif:

from home. They can make a phone call from Boston

Leif:

to New York.

Leif:

Yeah, you. You can be there in a few hours.

Leif:

So ridiculous.

Leif:

Again, forced. Like, I can't

Leif:

entirely blame Rufus, the character, because

Leif:

I feel like the writing is, at

Leif:

this point, it was shitty up

Leif:

and up until now. Anyway. Right now

Leif:

it again just feels like they're trying to

Leif:

force this m

Leif:

More. And it's like it's

Leif:

exhausted.

Leif:

Blair and Serena are walking in the halls discussing

Leif:

Chuck's party and the Gossip Girl hit on Dan,

Leif:

despite Blair's mocking of them. There's nothing wrong with tuna

Leif:

sandwiches in theory. However, keeping

Leif:

one unrefrigerated in your locker is pretty fucking

Leif:

gross.

Leif:

The Minions are fucking with

Leif:

Serena right here. you're right. Keeping a tuna sandwich

Leif:

in your locker is fucking disgusting, by the way. Yes.

Leif:

That, I mean, I've already discussed my feelings until tuna

Leif:

sandwiches. But Serena could destroy the

Leif:

Minions. She could destroy

Leif:

them if she wanted to.

Leif:

And like, just a few episodes, they were, like, worshiping the round

Leif:

she walked on. Like, what happened?

Leif:

Yeah, I think it again, like,

Leif:

bad writing. And also they try to make the

Leif:

Penelope character

Leif:

psychotic. At this point, I feel that

Leif:

she's more and more

Leif:

just trying to bully anybody.

Leif:

Well, I think she needs a firm

Leif:

hand. And right now Blair is

Leif:

just completely distracted. That's been an ongoing storyline.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

So she's just, she, she's going off, she's. Nothing's going off the

Leif:

rails.

Leif:

Because it's, Because throughout the whole thing, when

Leif:

addressing Blair, they keep Serena's name

Leif:

out of it, knowing full well that it has to do with Serena

Leif:

too.

Leif:

We get a multi layered scene with Dan and

Leif:

Vanessa in a candy shop. Dan

Leif:

reveals Rufus's secret to Vanessa but

Leif:

is overheard by Nellyuki who also steals Dan's

Leif:

phone. However, the scene isn't over as the mini

Leif:

minions are back and they are berating Dan for cheating on

Leif:

Serena again.

Leif:

So first of all, totally

Leif:

understood Dan opening up to Vanessa.

Leif:

That was probably the one

Leif:

most real scene to me in this

Leif:

that I can't tell Serena. I'm going to tell

Leif:

my best friend. That made sense.

Leif:

Nelly Yuki stealing his phone.

Leif:

Nelly. Come on. Like that's going to keep you out of

Leif:

Yale. Like that. That can keep you out of

Leif:

Yale. Theft. Yeah.

Leif:

But she's desperate after her ploy from last week.

Leif:

Yeah. She's on probation.

Leif:

Yeah. And

Leif:

finally, the mini minions were

Leif:

fantastic. I loved it. You know

Leif:

who I am going out with? Nate Archibald after

Leif:

striking out with Dan Humphrey. Talk about failing

Leif:

upwards.

Leif:

So good.

Leif:

Yeah, amazing. And, just the way that

Leif:

those three just boom, boom, boom,

Leif:

like one they were serving.

Leif:

Jack is waiting for Chuck. When he arrives home,

Leif:

Jack apologizes for earlier and convinces Chuck to

Leif:

blow off Blair and come out with him with what I presume are

Leif:

escorts.

Leif:

Yeah. So I'm going to

Leif:

get these escorts from my

Leif:

underage nephew and take him

Leif:

out drinking and get him super

Leif:

fucked up to ruin his plans of

Leif:

taking over this company. The

Leif:

legality, the how does.

Leif:

How, Sometimes it just really baffles me

Leif:

when it just. When age really just

Leif:

isn't a factor on this show at all.

Leif:

They're white and they're rich.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

And they're men.

Leif:

And they're men. Yeah.

Leif:

Don't get much more privileged than that. Serena

Leif:

is waiting for Vanessa at the gallery so she can ask V

Leif:

about Dan Vane. Nessa lies about knowing

Leif:

anything. Not sure if Serena believes

Leif:

her. When Serena leaves, V texts Dan asking where

Leif:

Rufus and Leah or wed. Rufus and Leah are coming

Leif:

back because Serena needs to know about their

Leif:

son.

Leif:

B. The first scene with Vanessa, I was like, oh,

Leif:

it's like the good Vanessa that, like, I like

Leif:

having around V.

Leif:

You could have been a fucking hero here. All you had

Leif:

to say is, Dan has a secret. It

Leif:

isn't his to tell. He loves You.

Leif:

Boom. When your parents get

Leif:

home, you'll learn everything. Dan

Leif:

can't tell you. I can't tell you, but

Leif:

Dan loves you. She could have saved the day.

Leif:

But of course, Vanessa turns to just

Leif:

being dumb.

Leif:

My head cat is that she was trying to break the buck.

Leif:

Hey, I'll. I'll accept your head

Leif:

cannon. Her.

Leif:

Her facial expressions say that too.

Leif:

Her facial expressions. I could be a hero,

Leif:

but I'm just going to go ahead and this up even

Leif:

more.

Leif:

I think that was just trying to real And I think they were just trying to

Leif:

show that she's a bad liar.

Leif:

Yeah, I think you're right. But I like your headcanon

Leif:

and I would like to keep going with it.

Leif:

We shift to Nelly revealing to Penelope and Hazel

Leif:

that she stole Dan's phone. And just in time to get

Leif:

Vanessa's text. Looks like the secret is about

Leif:

to get out.

Leif:

Yeah, stupid. Fuck you, Nelly.

Leif:

Blair looks simply stunning, prepping for what

Leif:

looks to be a romantic dinner with Chuck. however, she is

Leif:

disappointed when she gets a text from Chuck who

Leif:

says he is working late and can't make it.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Yowza.

Leif:

Although Blair, your outfit is saying more

Leif:

than just friends.

Leif:

Yeah, that is not a non

Leif:

romantic dinner.

Leif:

Yeah, you're non romantic dinner.

Leif:

Practically lingerie. Yeah, the only

Leif:

thing made it not lingerie was the fact that a belt.

Leif:

We see Chuck in the limo looking conflicted for a moment.

Leif:

But then he starts chugging champagne and living it up with

Leif:

Jack's girls. So much for the back of the limo

Leif:

being sacred, eh, Chuck? Chuck fails to notice that

Leif:

Jack is conspicuously not

Leif:

partying.

Leif:

Yeah, pay attention, Chuck.

Leif:

Pay attention. And, and this is

Leif:

also really ridiculous because this

Leif:

kid is still in morning.

Leif:

This kid is still

Leif:

grieving over his dad that died like

Leif:

a couple months ago or a month ago or whatever it

Leif:

is. So like, yeah, he's going to go out

Leif:

and get up sometimes. Let

Leif:

him work this out.

Leif:

That's for later.

Leif:

Looks like Chuck made his choice. But careful,

Leif:

Bass, now that you're a big fish, there are a lot of

Leif:

sharks in this pond. Rufus and Lily are waiting

Leif:

in a hotel room when Rufus gets a call that the

Leif:

parents don't want to meet and ask not to be contacted

Leif:

again. Rufus gets pissy and says it's time to

Leif:

go home. yeah.

Leif:

Oh, well now, fine. I'm gonna give up. And he's being

Leif:

a dick. He sucks again. It's

Leif:

about time he gave up. And more than

Leif:

anything, once again, this scene just felt

Leif:

like filler. It just felt like they needed

Leif:

to just Put. Well, we need another Rufus and Lily

Leif:

fighting scene. Okay, let's just put this in.

Leif:

At Chuck's brunch, Serita and Blair are

Leif:

talking.

Leif:

Yeah, they sure are.

Leif:

Spare me those expressive eyebrows. I can't wait till you get

Leif:

Botox.

Leif:

And, players, like, slaps Penelope away from trying

Leif:

to take Chuck. Special eclairs.

Leif:

Yeah. Yeah.

Leif:

Which, you know, it would have been nice for that. That had been brought up before

Leif:

that he liked the Clares or something.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Why are you reserving the eclairs just for Chuck?

Leif:

Yeah. Yeah. At a brunch with

Leif:

all of these people. Yeah.

Leif:

Dan and Jenny show up at the brunch as well. Jenny goes

Leif:

off to find Eric, and Dan greets Serena.

Leif:

I never miss an opportunity to celebrate Chuck

Leif:

Bass.

Leif:

Jan. When he was walking.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Again, Chuck. Dan's trying to do the right thing here

Leif:

and trying to be the right boyfriend and

Leif:

really tries to show up for Serena here.

Leif:

Yeah, He. Unfortunately, Rufus has backed him into a

Leif:

corner.

Leif:

Yeah, totally.

Leif:

Jack arrives without Chuck, who is apparently back in the

Leif:

office after the night they just had.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

The minions try to get Blair's clearance to release the info on

Leif:

Rufus and Lee's kid, but Blair is too distracted and

Leif:

tells them to release the info before she hears what it is.

Leif:

Jack encourages Blair to take the vast board members

Leif:

up to Chuck's office to meet him again.

Leif:

The minions didn't mention

Leif:

Serena, so they're. Oh, we've got this

Leif:

hit on Dan Humphrey. Okay, fine.

Leif:

Release it. I don't think Serena would. Blair would

Leif:

have said that if Serena's name came up.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

The other thing with this B.

Leif:

How'd you miss this? How did you

Leif:

miss taking the board members up to Chuck?

Leif:

She's usually a step ahead of this. How did she not see

Leif:

through Jack here? I felt like she should have seen the

Leif:

trap and been like, I'll go check on

Leif:

Chuck and bring him down instead of leading the board

Leif:

members in. I felt like she missed an obvious setup.

Leif:

she's clearly distracted.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Jenny sits down with Eric, who finally speaks up and tells

Leif:

Jenny that he wants some alone time with Jonathan. The two

Leif:

proceed to bicker like siblings

Leif:

very much.

Leif:

And this was where I really felt

Leif:

that this was forced, that Jenny was just being

Leif:

a brat about it. And maybe that's why I

Leif:

felt it was forced is that I felt like,

Leif:

why did. Why would she object

Leif:

to letting them also having their

Leif:

time? So I. I thought

Leif:

that her reaction was over the

Leif:

top. Also, I thought that Andal.

Leif:

Or that Eric was a little more abrasive

Leif:

than he usually is that Eric typically has a

Leif:

more adult way of approaching things.

Leif:

Yeah. So on Jenny's side, Serena actually

Leif:

met. She kind of explains how. Why Jenny be like that? Because she

Leif:

has no one else.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

And then Eric is just sexually frustrated because he can't

Leif:

be alone. His boyfriend.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Yeah, it makes sense to me.

Leif:

Yeah, that. That. That makes sense.

Leif:

Dan and Serena are joking and being flirty. When everyone

Leif:

gets the blast, the secret is

Leif:

out. Hold on to your floppy cable

Leif:

net hats, kids. Lonely boy. Secret is

Leif:

out. And this one's a doozy. D wasn't

Leif:

cheating, but there's definitely a third party

Leif:

involved. Seems DNS share a sibling.

Leif:

While I'm always a fan of star crossed lovers, at

Leif:

least Robbie and Juliet didn't share DNA.

Leif:

huge bomb from Gossip Girl.

Leif:

Biggest Gossip Girl drop that we've had in a while,

Leif:

as I mentioned before, and it's

Leif:

this reminder that Gossip Girl is a living,

Leif:

breathing character in the show. She has been

Leif:

such a narrator for

Leif:

a few weeks. We haven't really seen

Leif:

much plot coming from Gossip

Leif:

Girl. Just recap, narration,

Leif:

little things like that. Has

Leif:

there been anything big in a while? I feel

Leif:

like not since.

Leif:

Maybe the Marcus stuff.

Leif:

Oh, yeah, I think that, sounds about right. Well, I did like the

Leif:

fun quip about Romeo and Juliet. I.

Leif:

Technically, they don't share DNA.

Leif:

Unrelated.

Leif:

I mean, they're sharing DNA. Possibly, yeah,

Leif:

but they don't share DNA.

Leif:

Yeah, they're not actually

Leif:

siblings.

Leif:

Before we go to act break, we get a final scene

Leif:

with Blair and the board members walking in on Chuck doing

Leif:

coke and still partying with the presumed escorts.

Leif:

Oh, Chuck, didn't your father teach you never

Leif:

mix business with pleasure?

Leif:

Yeah, again, I felt like. I felt

Leif:

like, b. B, you should

Leif:

have seen this coming.

Leif:

She should have. But, yeah, she. They. They've been showing that

Leif:

she's off her game.

Leif:

Yeah, they have. They have.

Leif:

And so I'm not sure if the woman

Leif:

was with them. Was that another board member or was

Leif:

that just the guy's wife?

Leif:

But, they introduced her as a board member.

Leif:

But I. I thought she kind of wanted to stay and party. She had

Leif:

this look on her face.

Leif:

Let's.

Leif:

Let's party. So we

Leif:

go into Act 3.

Leif:

Dan chases down Serena, who begs him to

Leif:

tell her it's not true. Dan, for once,

Leif:

is speechless, confirming that it is true and that

Leif:

he knew about it. Serena's gotta

Leif:

go.

Leif:

Yeah, fair. Like, I felt

Leif:

like every reaction from the four of

Leif:

them, completely fair. Serena

Leif:

being like, I can't be here with you right

Leif:

now, and Dan Wasn't. And Dan

Leif:

was like, fair. I get it.

Leif:

You know, and it's a lot

Leif:

to take.

Leif:

Yeah. And Jenny and Eric being like, wow, this

Leif:

is why we fight like siblings.

Leif:

Chuck enters the brunch still tucking in his

Leif:

shirt. The board members are clearly disgusted and

Leif:

disappointed. Chuck yells at Blair, blaming

Leif:

her for everything.

Leif:

Yeah. And Blair could very

Leif:

easily have said, well, Jack told me

Leif:

to throw this thing.

Leif:

She didn't even, misdirected anger.

Leif:

Yeah. And, and, and he has this wife problem.

Leif:

You know, he has this wife hang up

Leif:

that, that Jack is just

Leif:

scratching at.

Leif:

Yeah. So there was a bit of debate, debate on the

Leif:

forums on whether this was just shitty behavior

Leif:

or if it was actual abuse. Abusive

Leif:

behavior. It's definitely

Leif:

borderline.

Leif:

Yeah. Chuck is definitely an abusive

Leif:

person. Right.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

And.

Leif:

Yeah, we'll make that a call to action.

Leif:

Yeah. We'll put a poll on Spotify

Leif:

and if you have thoughts, definitely,

Leif:

come on social media and talk to us about it. Was that

Leif:

abuse or was it just.

Leif:

Chuck being a. Yeah, yeah, fair

Leif:

question.

Leif:

Dan once again catches up with Serena outside the hotel.

Leif:

He seems to at least temporarily pacifier.

Leif:

Eric and Jenny also come out and join

Leif:

the conversation. All four are looking shell

Leif:

shocked and suddenly awkward to be around each other.

Leif:

Yeah, again, it was suit that, how

Leif:

would people react? It felt real. It felt

Leif:

like really real moment. I,

Leif:

really credit acting directing here. It

Leif:

was. They're really a spot on

Leif:

and really felt like you had a window into

Leif:

these kids reactions.

Leif:

Back at the hotel, Rufus is still acting like a

Leif:

bratty child. For some crazy reason, Lily

Leif:

admits she is still in love with him. Rufus,

Leif:

overcome with emotion, pulls Lillian for the

Leif:

kiss. And we fade to bat black back from the

Leif:

commercial. Rufus and Lily are now lying naked

Leif:

under the covers, basking in the afterglow

Leif:

amidst the talks of Paris. Rufus gets a

Leif:

call and apparently the adopted father wants to meet

Leif:

with them.

Leif:

Yeah. Fucking Rufus being such

Leif:

a huge asshole to Lily. And then Lily

Leif:

being like, but I'm in love with you. And then Rufus

Leif:

is like, oh, all right, cool. Let's

Leif:

just go with that now and not worry about this kid

Leif:

thing anymore. And then he. Then they bang. And then

Leif:

it's like, oh, I get to meet the kid. Sweet. I'm

Leif:

getting everything I wanted.

Leif:

Chuck confronts Jack about setting him up.

Leif:

However, Jack just reveals how deep the setup went

Leif:

and he already has assumed control of Bass

Leif:

Industries with the board's blessing.

Leif:

Yep, Jack is a huge piece of

Leif:

shit.

Leif:

And he wins.

Leif:

Yeah, he won. Yeah. For how

Leif:

long?

Leif:

Lily and Rufus meet the adopted father who

Leif:

says that he has something to tell him. But we get a scene

Leif:

cut prior to the reveal, so nothing really happens yet.

Leif:

So. But they are meeting with him.

Leif:

Yeah, I did, I, I did call it at the scene

Leif:

cut. that what he was had to.

Leif:

Say, but he called it wrong.

Leif:

I, I called it wrong. Yeah.

Leif:

Eric enters Serena's room to talk. Eric is

Leif:

back to being the wise sage and tells Serena that she

Leif:

can't push Dan away right now because Dan and Jenny are

Leif:

going through the same thing.

Leif:

This reeks of gin and Chanel number five.

Leif:

This has, this has grandma all over it. Yeah.

Leif:

Reeks of gin and Chanel number five.

Leif:

Eric for the win. The, the,

Leif:

the only people who are going to understand

Leif:

what you're going through are the other two

Leif:

people going through the

Leif:

exact same unique

Leif:

experience. So Eric for the

Leif:

win again. I hope Eric grows

Leif:

up to become a psychologist. I want

Leif:

Eric to be a therapist.

Leif:

I can see that for him.

Leif:

Yeah, I think it would be, I think that he would be

Leif:

fantastic.

Leif:

We go to the gallery and we get a nice Dan and Nate

Leif:

scene. Nate apologizes for the Jenny thing

Leif:

and empathizes with Dan about having personal details of

Leif:

your life up for public gossip. Can we be seeing the return

Leif:

of the bromance? Nate also reconnect with Chuck this

Leif:

episode. We potentially get all three boys hanging out

Leif:

together soon.

Leif:

I would love it, actually.

Leif:

good guy Nate. I always

Leif:

fucking love Nate.

Leif:

And this was such a classic Dan and Nate. See, because at first

Leif:

Dan like gets all prickly, comes at him,

Leif:

and Nate de escalates and they're

Leif:

cool.

Leif:

Just the way he keeps his cool. Dan comes

Leif:

at him hard and he's like.

Leif:

But I have been in the public eye with all of

Leif:

my biggest shame embarrassment. And

Leif:

Dan immediately is always like,

Leif:

fuck.

Leif:

And I have to wonder, is they only dating Vanessa to get

Leif:

close to dad?

Leif:

M. I mean that, that kind of tracks.

Leif:

because when what Nate said, I found out

Leif:

who my friends really were, I meant

Leif:

you. You took me into your

Leif:

home. And Nate having the self

Leif:

awareness of like you kicking me out, like, I kind of get it.

Leif:

I was hooking up with your sister. Like that would make me mad

Leif:

too. Like, Nate just

Leif:

owns it and moves on. And he was

Leif:

just such a, great example of the

Leif:

good guy here.

Leif:

Yep. Back to Rufus and Lily. The

Leif:

adopted father tells them that their son died in an accident

Leif:

last summer, but that he was always a happy

Leif:

child.

Leif:

So I called, when, before the commercial

Leif:

break, I said, oh, the kid's dead. When

Leif:

he was explaining it and Saying it. He had the

Leif:

article and all that stuff. I'm like, oh, this guy's full of shit.

Leif:

I was like, I don't know how, I don't know what's going on here, but this

Leif:

guy's full of shit.

Leif:

Also. I know everyone grieves

Leif:

differently. Why did you keep an

Leif:

article about your son's grisly death?

Leif:

Yeah, yeah.

Leif:

I mean, it's not, it wasn't an obituary. I, I, because I paused it. It's

Leif:

like a full article.

Leif:

Yeah, yeah.

Leif:

Detailing, what happened.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Seems odd, but whatever.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Chuck arrives at Blair's penthouse to apologize.

Leif:

But Blair is too hurt and sends Chuck a

Leif:

pack in. Good for Blair finally

Leif:

standing up for herself.

Leif:

Yeah. And,

Leif:

and it was somewhat, it was somewhat shitty. Here he is

Leif:

in his time of need. But it's also, you got to put your own

Leif:

life ma. Like you got to put your mask on first.

Leif:

Right. And, and she has taken so much

Leif:

from him.

Leif:

And again, he's not really in

Leif:

a real crisis. He just doesn't have his father's company at

Leif:

17.

Leif:

Yeah. Yeah. Well, he did

Leif:

lose his dad. And he does feel,

Leif:

I can imagine this 17 year old feeling like

Leif:

he's lost everything right now,

Leif:

and really needing that person.

Leif:

And I, think one of the biggest things that

Leif:

he failed to do right then. And

Leif:

there were three words that

Leif:

he could have said right there and

Leif:

didn't. Although I wouldn't have believed if he

Leif:

would have said it. I think that that would have just been

Leif:

manipulative. Anyway.

Leif:

And we move into the epilogue.

Leif:

Back in Brooklyn, Dan and Jenny are making plans to

Leif:

distract themselves when Serena and Eric come a

Leif:

knocking.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Cute scene with them m before it.

Leif:

Was f. Yeah, I loved it. I loved, I loved

Leif:

the rest of this episode.

Leif:

I really liked the two scenes.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Dan and Serena decide they are going to find a way to make

Leif:

the relationship work despite the

Leif:

skeeviness.

Leif:

Yeah, I loved his apology here.

Leif:

I loved them having that open

Leif:

discourse like they did what brought them together

Leif:

early on in season one. I felt that kind

Leif:

of energy again. I loved the

Leif:

clueless reference that

Leif:

when Dan's searching

Leif:

literature and we get

Leif:

clueless from Serena.

Leif:

Eric and Jenny compete on who can apologize first

Leif:

but continue to tease each other.

Leif:

Yeah, I said it first. Loved that.

Leif:

Eric was so, was so cute. Always the,

Leif:

always the grown up. He's always the grown up.

Leif:

So as is tradition, we close the episode with a

Leif:

montage. Chuck is getting

Leif:

undressed. We see the adopted parents talking.

Leif:

Lily and Rufus talking outside the loft.

Leif:

Rufus opens the Door to find their children all together. We

Leif:

end the episode with a closeup on Rufus and Lily's hands

Leif:

clasping and Gossip Girl narrates.

Leif:

The problem with inheritance is it's not,

Leif:

always as simple as it sounds. Sometimes you get

Leif:

more than you bargained for, or you discover that in

Leif:

gaining one thing, you've lost something else. But

Leif:

every once in a while, the fates smile upon you

Leif:

and you get the one thing you really need.

Leif:

Exo xo Gossip

Leif:

Girl.

Leif:

So a couple things that I had on this little ending

Leif:

bit.

Leif:

For one, the people, the

Leif:

adopted parents just sucking here.

Leif:

And there's a part of me that gets it.

Leif:

My oldest sister is

Leif:

adopted. I'm sort of from a Brady Bunch.

Leif:

My parents were both married and had kids, then

Leif:

got together and had me and my little sister. But

Leif:

my dad's first wife couldn't

Leif:

have kids, and so they adopted a

Leif:

daughter. And so I grew up

Leif:

with a sister that I just always knew to be

Leif:

my sister and found out when I was maybe 11 or 12 that

Leif:

she was actually adopted and it never

Leif:

mattered. And then around

Leif:

college, my sister got curious and started looking

Leif:

for her biological parents.

Leif:

And my dad kind of freaked out

Leif:

about it. My dad, got really

Leif:

upset about it, got

Leif:

really insecure about it. And my

Leif:

sister had to be like, look, you're my dad.

Leif:

These are, these are just people that I want to know where I came

Leif:

from. I want to know that history.

Leif:

But you're my dad. That doesn't

Leif:

change. So I kind of see both sides of this.

Leif:

But I really think Rufus is a huge asshole for

Leif:

his insistence on it. I also think that these people

Leif:

are assholes because if you have raised

Leif:

your kid so that if some other

Leif:

parent comes along, they're just going to want to run off

Leif:

and be with them now, then you're a pretty shitty

Leif:

parent to begin with. I know that if my sister

Leif:

had found those, other people and they were

Leif:

billionaires living in

Leif:

Silicon Valley or some bullshit, she would

Leif:

never have left my dad. She wouldn't. She may

Leif:

have found other ways to benefit, but she would never

Leif:

have been like, well, that's my family now.

Leif:

If you're worried about that, then you're pretty shitty

Leif:

parent to begin with.

Leif:

Yeah. So the individual sees here we get Chuck

Leif:

getting undressed. Clearly a parallel to the opening scene of the

Leif:

episode.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

And it's interesting. They clearly want to show us that

Leif:

Chuck was wearing his father's tie because he threw it down right next to

Leif:

the picture.

Leif:

Yeah, yeah.

Leif:

Of his father. And it was the same tie so you use

Leif:

that tie to go apologize to Blair.

Leif:

Yeah. And Chuck got undressed

Leif:

with no one else there. Typically, when Chuck is

Leif:

going to bed or there's a Chuck moment

Leif:

like that, we cut to him with

Leif:

a woman in the bed. And this was indicated

Leif:

that Chuck was getting undressed and going to bed

Leif:

alone.

Leif:

And, of course, the. The Lily and Rufus, like, Lily's just. She's

Leif:

admitting they. They might not be meant to be family, but course,

Leif:

right then they walk in and see their kids are acting

Leif:

like a family.

Leif:

I thought that was adorable.

Leif:

I thought it was a very sweet scene. I love

Leif:

that they walked in, saw what was

Leif:

happening, and then held hands, that they were

Leif:

like, okay, apparently,

Leif:

we can give this a shot. I

Leif:

loved how that came together, and I'm really

Leif:

happy to see Lily and

Leif:

Rufus finally getting at least something

Leif:

here.

Leif:

So that is it for our episode. Any

Leif:

predictions?

Leif:

I predict that Lily and Rufus live happily

Leif:

and ever after, and so did Dan and Serena. No, I'm. I'm

Leif:

kidding. I know that's not true because they all have to,

Leif:

but I do, I do hope for

Leif:

a good run of

Leif:

Rufus and Lily and a little run of

Leif:

Dan and Serena before something comes along and it up.

Leif:

I'm assuming we got a mention of

Leif:

Georgina. I feel like if they say her name

Leif:

three times, it's going to summon her.

Leif:

So I kind of feel like. And we're getting towards the later

Leif:

episodes, so I'm feeling like there might be a

Leif:

Georgina reemergence at

Leif:

some point.

Leif:

This is a longer season.

Leif:

Yeah, yeah, we've got eight episodes left.

Leif:

This was 15. There's 23.

Leif:

25. Keep thinking it's 23.

Leif:

That's norm. That's normal. But, yeah, season two is longer.

Leif:

Okay. Okay. So 25.

Leif:

Okay.

Leif:

So we still have 10 episodes left. All right.

Leif:

So, but I. I'm. I'm predicting,

Leif:

I think that we're gonna have, these two

Leif:

couples giving it a go for a bit. I. I could

Leif:

see this being the Rufus and Lily show

Leif:

going forward. As far as those. That

Leif:

plotline, I could see them actually working out

Leif:

now. I don't think Becks is going to

Leif:

come steal him away.

Leif:

I mean, obviously we're eventually going to see the kid. Do you think that's going to

Leif:

happen this season?

Leif:

I would. I would think so. I would think that

Leif:

the whole fact that they went looking for this kid would

Leif:

stir up the notion that he's being looked for,

Leif:

that he would come looking for them.

Leif:

I'm assuming that he is going to come looking for

Leif:

them. By the end of the season.

Leif:

What about Chuck and Blair? Are they going to continue to

Leif:

bounce back and forth, or are they going to do something else?

Leif:

If it. Maybe there will be a new love interest

Leif:

for Blair. They. If they

Leif:

need to throw someone else into

Leif:

that mix. Otherwise, they're either just going to keep bouncing

Leif:

off each other or they're going to finally work it out for an

Leif:

episode or two. But I feel like.

Leif:

I feel like they're going to draw a new

Leif:

character in at some point. Something has to mix that

Leif:

up because it's just been this whole season. Yeah,

Leif:

it's been since. Since episode one.

Leif:

Yeah. Since Marcus left has been just Chuck and Blair.

Leif:

Yeah. And, like, the only thing that stirred that

Leif:

pot at all was Marcus. And

Leif:

so they need something to stir that pot. Either that or they need to get

Leif:

together and let them be a couple for a little bit. But

Leif:

I don't feel like we're gonna have

Leif:

the Darina and chair

Leif:

simultaneously working out. That doesn't. And

Leif:

Vanessa and Nate. I don't think three happy

Leif:

couples really makes for good drama.

Leif:

Yeah, probably not. Let's go ahead and

Leif:

get into some segments. We jumped

Leif:

into the Wayback Machine to take a look at this week

Leif:

in fandom. Hello there, Peabody.

Leif:

Here.

Leif:

And this is the Wayback Machine for traveling through time.

Leif:

And this is my boy, Sherman.

Leif:

Speak, Sherman. Hello.

Leif:

Good boy. We went to fan for him again.

Leif:

So we. I learned that that thing that we saw

Leif:

at the beginning of the season where Canada was getting the episodes early,

Leif:

that's no longer a thing. Oh,

Leif:

the US Shut that shit down.

Leif:

America First Merc

Leif:

America.

Leif:

So apparently the promo trailer for this episode made it

Leif:

seem like there was no Jack and Blair hookup that

Leif:

happened. People are annoyed by the misdirect.

Leif:

I will say it is

Leif:

so obvious that they hooked up that there

Leif:

may be something else instead of a hookup.

Leif:

Apparently, the promo specifically said they did

Leif:

not. It was like, a scene that didn't make the upset

Leif:

or something.

Leif:

Oh.

Leif:

So, people were annoyed by the misdirect.

Leif:

So it was like in the preview.

Leif:

Yeah, the preview from, last week. Yeah,

Leif:

like next week on the Minions.

Leif:

Yeah, all of them.

Leif:

Jack is creepy, hitting on Blair and winking at

Leif:

Nate. How old is this pansexual sleazeball?

Leif:

Yeah, again, I didn't take

Leif:

that. Sexual. Just

Leif:

slimy.

Leif:

Yeah. And I. I threw her pants. Sexual. Because that early wasn't in

Leif:

the lexicon back then. They didn't

Leif:

have the word for what they're trying to say.

Leif:

Yeah,

Leif:

that's fair.

Leif:

Fan Forum is kind of done with Chuck after this

Leif:

one. They are really down on Chuck. I was surprised.

Leif:

Yeah. Because I'm still in a place where I feel for him

Leif:

still. Like the lost dad thing.

Leif:

I know, fucked him up. I feel like it takes time to get

Leif:

over something like that.

Leif:

And like I said, they're back and forth on

Leif:

whether it was abusive or just mean.

Leif:

Yeah. Especially showing up with the flowers

Leif:

later to apologize. That's,

Leif:

that's, that is some abusive

Leif:

behavior. That is some. Yeah, narcissistic.

Leif:

And also, as I mentioned, Eric and Jenny are giving Will and

Leif:

Grace.

Leif:

Yeah, very much.

Leif:

They are still salty that Nate is favoring Dan over

Leif:

Chuck.

Leif:

Dan's nicer to him. Well, except for when

Leif:

he kicked him out.

Leif:

What's the point of Natesa dating if they aren't going to share

Leif:

a single scene together?

Leif:

True. They only talked about

Leif:

their two month.

Leif:

Relationship and to other people.

Leif:

They literally worked in the scene together.

Leif:

Yeah. Which I kind of love that in its own

Leif:

right. That the writing, they couldn't work

Leif:

them into a scene together.

Leif:

we mentioned the Television Without Pity

Leif:

forums last week. They were kind of. They thought that

Leif:

Share Sibling made Darina more interesting.

Leif:

Fanfare was not on that same kink.

Leif:

Yeah.

Leif:

Grossed out.

Leif:

Yeah, a little bit.

Leif:

That's fair.

Leif:

So let's go ahead and get into some episode

Leif:

grade. You're up first, Steve.

Leif:

Yes, I am. So this

Leif:

episode, I felt the writing was

Leif:

close to terrible in. In the way that

Leif:

they were trying to manage these

Leif:

plot devices. I felt like it was such a

Leif:

big episode with the reveals

Leif:

that they didn't know how to

Leif:

build to some of them. I thought that

Leif:

the reveals were great. I thought the acting was great. I

Leif:

thought the directing was really well done.

Leif:

So I gave it a B. Mostly because I felt

Leif:

the writing just really hurt the

Leif:

advancement throughout the episode.

Leif:

So you're giving it a B.

Leif:

A B. Yeah.

Leif:

I, was not as down on the writing as

Leif:

you, but I was also not as high on the acting or

Leif:

the directing. I thought pretty much everything from this

Leif:

episode was a straight down the middle average

Leif:

episode. The only thing, I gave it a C plus

Leif:

because I like the epilogue.

Leif:

Yeah, that's fair. I like the

Leif:

advancement that happened

Leif:

overall was my big thing that I

Leif:

liked.

Leif:

But yeah, it was just kind of an average upset.

Leif:

It really. Yeah, wasn't great.

Leif:

Moving on over to stock. Watch what you got going

Leif:

up.

Leif:

So I have Jack going up. Jack is

Leif:

now CEO of Bass Industries. I

Leif:

have Dan and Serena going up. I

Leif:

have Eric and Jenny and Rufus and

Leif:

Lily. The whole Family going up because

Leif:

they have seemed to, at least

Leif:

for now, all worked out, all of that shit. And that

Leif:

is everyone I have going up for me.

Leif:

I also had Jack because, yeah, he won what

Leif:

he was. He got, what he wanted, his scheme work. I had Jenny and

Leif:

Eric going up because they had the cute sibling stuff

Leif:

going on. Nate going up because he was good guy

Leif:

Nate.

Leif:

Oh, I want to add Nate because I forgot about Nate.

Leif:

All right, we'll add Nate. And I

Leif:

had Dan and Serena going up because, you know, they

Leif:

worked through their issues and they were cute.

Leif:

I kept, Willie at neutral.

Leif:

That's fair.

Leif:

You got going down.

Leif:

I have the adoptive parents going down.

Leif:

I have the Minions going down. I have

Leif:

Chuck and Blair both going down and

Leif:

Vanessa going down for being a bad liar

Leif:

and not saving the day when you had a chance to do something

Leif:

good. And Vanessa, I will always give her a

Leif:

shot down if I can.

Leif:

So I kept Blair neutral because

Leif:

she had a bad episode, but she stuck up for

Leif:

herself at the end, so I kept her neutral.

Leif:

That's fair.

Leif:

You gave Rufus up. I gave her his dad because he was just such a

Leif:

fucking dick all up.

Leif:

Yeah, the up is because I feel like he got

Leif:

everything he wanted in.

Leif:

The end, but he didn't get the kid.

Leif:

At least he got the info on the kid, though. He thinks he

Leif:

got everything he was looking for.

Leif:

And I had Chuck going down because, yeah,

Leif:

he lost big time.

Leif:

And damn, did Rufus get over that kid dying

Leif:

really fucking quick now that I think of it.

Steve:

Yeah.

Leif:

Rufus down all the way. I also had the Minions at

Leif:

neutral because the Minions were just being Minions.

Leif:

Take my Rufus point away and send him down.

Leif:

Fuck him.

Leif:

See, I didn't give the Minions

Leif:

dad because they were just being the Minions being

Leif:

Minions. But that's it. for me on down,

Leif:

just Chuck and Rufus.

Leif:

Yeah, okay. But here's the best

Leif:

outfits from the.

Steve:

Last episode we see.

Leif:

Who do you have for best outfit?

Leif:

Jenny's coat. She was in early on.

Leif:

Jenny was wearing that coat and it had like

Leif:

the lining on it. I can't really

Leif:

thing to describe. It was what was like a black coat with

Leif:

like the fucking. I know no

Leif:

one can see me pointing at my. At my collar,

Leif:

but so I guess.

Leif:

I will be the one and I'll be the horny bastard

Leif:

and pick Blair's dress from her.

Leif:

Or not date her lunge

Leif:

address. Yes. So, yeah, it was a black

Leif:

dress with waist trim. She had a bedazzled

Leif:

sash belt with a black flower buckle.

Leif:

It was from the Fall 2004 adultery and Gabbana

Leif:

pretzel Porte collection.

Leif:

Nice.

Leif:

So, yeah, so that is it for segments.
